    String cost rant.

I’m due for a new string on my compound and really wish I had the tools and knowledge to do the string swap myself.

    Cameras and wind direction

I’ll second the above - I also try and set up cameras so that they are pointing north. This way the sun never causes photo glare and I can look at any pic and immediately know which direction the movement is coming / going. And whenever possible I elevate them to 7-10’ to get them a bit further...

Shout out somebody that helped you get started!

Right back at Ya @Fl Canopy Stalker. When I first adopted DDRT as a hunting technique, I must’ve driven him nuts with endless questions and curiosities. Thanks for your knowledge and unparalleled patience!

    What have you learned?

I’ve learned not to get attached to the plan. Flexibility and confidence reading the sign and conditions has to be constantly re-evaluated. So for example: I’ve got some hunt all worked out; I’ve put lots of effort in to learning about deer or a deer in an area, the spot is prepped 6 months in...

    Limb weight reduction question

I’d think that any seasoned bowyer could do a subtle draw weight reduction. Anything beyond that and you want to either consult the manufacturer or better yet, have them do the mod.

    Cameras and wind direction

A wind indicator is an awesome idea, so long as it’s not creating the movement that triggers the pictures.

    Pipe and cigar talk

I used to love the ocassional cigar while fishing or camping. Partially for the smoke and palrtially to keep the bugs down. But I had a serious tobacco addiction and can’t touch any of that stuff again. I’ve always envied you folks who could periodically engage with tobacco.

    OnX ads complaint/rant

this is exactly my experience with Gaia. I need to figure out how to export and share waypoints the way you are suggesting. That would solve my communication issues with hunting buddies.

    OnX ads complaint/rant

I’m going to get OnX before the next hunting season simply so that I can interface with my hunting buddies. But I’ll continue to rely on Gaia for all my personal mapping, scouting, navigating and all the important stuff.
