2024 Off-Season Getting/Staying In Shape Motivation Thread

And we have a floor. Whew what a week. I have a lot more work to do to finish the room (like finish screwing down the floor, drywall and insulation etc), but I am going to do that a bit at a time nights and weekends. We basically ended up needing to reframe the whole floor and posts that support the walls, but it's solid, insulated, and level now. Worst corner came up about 7 inches, and it's no longer a wonky disaster. Back to running next week.

Now that turkey season is over I decided I needed to find a way to get at least a little exercise to start my day so I started heading over and climbing the stairs at our local defunct ski hill in the mornings. Its not much of a hill as ski hills go but it's 465 steps to the top so its a decent workout for an old guy like me. 20 years ago when I was prepping for Colorado elk hunts I would run up down it 3 or 4 times in the evenings . . . not happening anymore. In my 60's I'm content to plod my way up and down now.:tearsofjoy: It's getting easier though so I may start doubling up here in the future.

Anyway, more the point of my post this morning. Today as I was walking toward the start of the steps from the truck I noticed a doe standing in the middle of the old ski run. She didn't seem to care that I was walking directly at her. I took the best pic I could with my phone from 100 or so yards and headed up the stairs. Well I hit the first landing and she, and two others are standing there 20yds to my left watching me unconcerned. I took a couple more pictures and continued my walk. Well they paralleled me right up the hill and at one point the biggest doe (guessing she's about ready to drop a fawn) was standing inside 10 yds from me completely unconcerned with my presence. Darn city deer just don't have a care in the world. :tearsofjoy:
