Shifting from Ropeman 1 to hitch on 11mm tether.....suggestions that have been field tested

The ring is an Omega Pacific 2" o.d. X 1 1/8" i.d. and I forgot I switched to around 4 feet of TRC cord in order to get a closer hitch for SRT. I tied in the back with a figure 8 with stopper knots behind the 8. The VT worked well but the biner made it a little longer than I like for ascending and I wanted to use the VT for my back up above my ascender.
