There have been some that did that. Only benefit I’d it holds it to the tree while you fiddle with adjusting the strap or amsteel to get the proper cam over. It adds simplicity and weight. Can't you get it set with the versa button strap then cam the platform over too?
I added the button and strap and it does help hold it in place while you cam. I found that using the strap to cam it is the easiest and best way for me. As far as flipping the set up so the XOP is more towards the bottom of post, I do not see any benefit there as it mounts closer to center post than the assassin or predator do.There have been some that did that. The only thing I'd like is it will be more compact than the original ernie set upOh I guess you can but then I guess I do not see the benefit. Give it shot and let us know what you think!
Yep and i was thinking you could do a rope mode with the versa button and forget about having to do the cam over. The only thing I'd like is it will be more compact than the original ernie set up
IMO Without the cam over it will not be stable enough. The other seats have the teeth that bite into the tree, the XOP does not.. Also the versa button gets in the way when you want to fold it up unless you place it just right in one of the holes of the seat. Which limits your options as to where to put it.Yep and i was thinking you could do a rope mode with the versa button and forget about having to do the cam over.
FYI, Im currently doing the stepp knot and cam over

My post has teeth on both ends. My concern is with the post being short will the leverage pull the top teeth away from the tree but seems to work for others like the predator and slo mo'sIMO Without the cam over it will not be stable enough. I think having the strap higher and than camming the platform may keep it from pulling away. I have to play around. Now that I'm going to use we steps instead of sticks I need to re configure the way I packed everything. The platform is to long with the seat flat in its current configurationMy post has teeth on both ends. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?ur...&share_tid=8919&share_fid=104184&share_type=tI am not talking about the cleat on the post but the the predator and assassin platforms have teeth that bite into the tree when you fold them down. Those do not have a bottom cleat, the seat attaches to the tree. Not sure about slo mos i will have to look at it again. But I would say if you are using a seat from XOP as your platform it will not work. You just cant get the strap tight enough without the camming.
Pics?I flipped mine upside down so it’s toward the bottom and switched the versa button for one of my old Hawk Helium strap attachments and repurposed the strap from that. It lets the platform sit flush with the tube when folded up. I use the helium strap to hold platform on the tree while I get the cam strap just right.
