Predator Platform broke on me last night

Well here is a new one. Can’t say I have seen this before. When setting my platform by hand yesterday I heard a pop and this is what I saw. Gen 2 platform used at least 30 times with no issues.

My friend had his break the exact same way...only used it a handful of times. I’ll try to get some pics from him.

I emailed them right away from the tree yesterday. Waiting to hear back. It’s the hunting season so I understand if it takes a bit.

To be fair nothing about the standoff is different on the Gen 2. Pretty sure they are all the same except for the platform itself.

I continued my hunt and the platform was still plenty stable. Hopefully I can get a replacement standoff sent out this week since my rut vacation starts Wednesday for two weeks. If not I will have to swap a Lone Wolf bracket on for now.

Thicker would no doubt be better. The bolt hole is obviously a weak point that will likely fail again.

I sold my gen 1 quite awhile ago & cant recall but the standoff appears to be cast aluminum as well. Is that correct?? If so that’s an easy remedy. Can’t think of any other mfrs that have a cast v bracket though.......

Pretty sure it does as long as the post is 1.25". Since the post is cast though, there could be some minor filing required.

I used my Predator this last weekend and because of an irregularity in the tree, only half of the upper bracket made contact with the tree. It still locked up rock solid.
