There are also a handful of friction hitch cords that are rated much higher than 2400lbs. A quick google search or search of this site will turn up much information on the topic. It is not necessary to switch to a mechanical device being used outside of it's intended use, unless you see some advantages to doing so. Strength should not be the reason you swap.
Yep. A ropeman will start damaging rope well before you hit 2,400lbs according to what I've read.
Hello all. First post. Been researching saddles for a bit now and I’m down to a Mantis or the TL Ambush Pro. I really like that with the Ambush Pro kit, I basically get everything I need to get going, vs the Mantis which is saddle only. $280 for the Ambush kit vs $199 for the Mantis with added expense for ropes etc. I will be buying Ropemans for either set up.
So my concern at this point: negative comments about “hip pinch” with the Ambush saddle. I surely don’t want to burn $280 to have it not be comfortable.
Any input would be appreciated!

In light of recent changes to forum rules, just wanted to bump this back up. If anybody has any questions about the Trophyline tree saddles, ask away. @Jefferson10940 and I have been hunting out of them all season.

Are you, @Nutterbuster and @Jefferson10940 using the ambush Lite or the Pro? Is the mesh vs the bottomland camo material the only difference in these two saddles?
Yessir and yessir. Lol
I've been favoring the pro. Bottomlands is too-cool-for-school if you're a deep south kid who first started hunting in your uncle's hand-me-downs. Only difference is the fabric.
I used the Lite until the Pro came out. I personally have not sat in the Lite since, not that I did not like because I did. But I love the Pro. Yes the only difference is the material. I find it more comfortable and better looking. The weights are almost the same with the Pro being slightly LIGHTER that is not a typo.

I watched your review of the Lite or at least the unboxing. It appears you prefer the L/XL to the M/L? I’m 6’2” 34” waist and I’ve spent ~10 hunts in the Lite M/L but am thinking of trying the L/XL.
Do you only hunt their saddles? If so, is it out of an agreement or do you actually like them more than the other saddles you’ve used? Dunno if you can even answer that last one haha
And I’m asking about sizing because I started with a greens tree saddle that was huggggge on me, but was absolutely splendid once I got in the tree. I’m thinking maybe bigger is better?
I was sent a large lite, and a medium pro. Definitely prefer the medium. Aerohunter runs small, which is why I chose a large at first. It's huge. The medium is kinda like an aerohunter size 3, if that existed. Roomy, but not crazily so.
I do not hunt exclusively from trophyline saddles. I bounce around and try new things. Did it before I got on as prostaff and plan on continuing. I've killed deer from the trophyline, my kite, a JX3, and a ground stool this year. Even shot 2 out of a box blind!
I am not a koolaid drinker. Does trophyline make "the best" saddle? Beats me. What's your criteria? Safety? I think absolutely. Comfort? Probably, but it depends on your body type. Lightest? Nope. Not the game they're playing. Coolest? Heck to the bottomlands-clad-bottom yeah. Best is a funny word.
I like the saddles. Have sat a lot of hours in them. I think the bridge is super-cool. I modified my kestrel back when I still had it to have fixed leg loops like the trophyline. But I understand that it's not all things to all people, and will never claim it to be.
I try to be honest, and I let Trophyline know that when I signed on. They were cool with it, which I very much appreciated.
Thanks for the synopsis! I’m selling my Lite and getting a Pro so I’m excited to rock the bottomland camo. It must be like stickers on ricer cars, each one gives added horse power.
I was well pleased with the construction and set up of the Lite. I like the adjustable bridge and I’m a bit indifferent towards the leg straps. I like the belt but I could see how others might find it annoying to tighten up a few times while walking in due to it loosening up. I did struggle to get super comfortable in the Lite but had mixed results from sit to sit. I also liked the location and size of the Lineman’s loops. We will see how the Pro does for me. It may be that trophyline just doesn’t fit me, but I’m optimistic.
PM me if you get it and have issues with getting comfortable. And don't make a decision until you've had several hunts in it. Worst case, they have a good return policy if it doesn't work out.

@Nutterbuster @Jefferson10940 is there any talk of another model coming out in the future? I tried a l/xl and I just couldn't get past the bridge. Contemplated using the lineman's loops to connect a bridge to but didn't want to use the lineman's loops in a way they weren't intended to be used. Ended up selling it and using a Kite. The Kite is a good saddle no doubt, but I really liked that TL.
