XOP Platform kits?

I read it a couple years ago when Lone Wolf came back to USA. That was part of the reason. I should shut up though because I don't know for sure. Just going off of memory.

Yeah but Ive since taken off the belt and arms and working on converting it into an assassin like platform to use with a stick. Just easier to get into thick cover with a stick

By stick you mean climbing sticks for access?

Yeah I've started playing around with one sticking
I need to try this. One stick with an aider could probably go pretty far.

I'm curious with these platforms how people are getting them to hunting height. I have an Ernie XOP.

Well I built a bunch of platforms this week. 7 to be exact, and I am currently shipping some of them out to guys who had asked for them. I got to thinking though, and it kind of seems dumb for me to buy brackets and seats and have them shipped to me for free from xop and then have to pay to ship completed platforms out to people.

What do you guys think about a kit that allows you to buy your own seat and brackets? I would provide the center post, steel support, upgraded hardware, and the UCR rope. It would be easy for your guys to assemble and would cut down on shipping cost. Currently its costing about $20 to ship a full platform.

I am trying to find cheaper sources for the aluminum and rope but right now I am guessing it would be $60 plus actual shipping (I am guessing less than $10) for the kit.
Erniepower what all comes with the kit ? I have the XOP top platform. Also how much ?

I have been practicing with it attached to my packpack, then I set it off to the right of my sticks so I can step up on it easily. I am using 5 ameristeps on a strap to get the remainder of the tree. But I am a complete novice and this will probably need tweaking, but for now that is how I am attempting to use it.

Hoping to ditch my sticks soon. Practiced with one aider girth hitched to the tree this past weekend and I think it's manageable. Need to start rapelling down before that though. Really cumbersome to climb down that way.

With a platform you can probably use just 2 or 3 steps around the tree. Five steps should be enough to use around most full trees on their own.

I use 2-3 on my strong side to allow me to circle around the tree a little farther and therefore shoot the weak side.

Ernie, I would pm you but this might be useful to others. I was just playing around with the construction of your post. I assume you built it around the assumption of using the xop seat and brackets?
I had intentions on using those but I have an extra lone wolf seat and muddy sticks I was going to use the brackets from.
So, the lone wolf seat maybe different because when bolted on the leveling bolt sits on the edge of the rivet.
Secondly, the muddy brackets use a larger bolt so I will need to enlarge the holes. While I'm at it I may enlarge and add bushings there aswell.
Any input?

Let's chat, I'll send you my number. I do know that the muddy brackets use a larger bolt. 5/16" I believe. The part that sucks about the muddy brackets is that you have to cut the outer arms flush with the inner points or you will bend the whole bracket. I started with muddy brackets and ruined a set. If you want to use them, you can drill the hole larger. Or, Since I ruined my muddy brackets and have been looking for a set perhaps we can trade. I have a few more questions on the other piece of the puzzle however. Like I said, give me a call.
