You guys have/make to much $. You wait until you see my redneck ingenuity on a budget. Y'all will either be impressed or roll over laughing.

Oh trust me I'm cheap as they come and most of my mods are using junk I have laying around. I made a steering system for this new boat using an old carbon arrow, a metal rod, and pieces from a camera mount LOL!

How do you like that trolling motor? Does it have decent range on a fully charged battery?

Yesterday was my first chance to try it out. Went to the tailwaters of a local dam and the flow was pretty fast. I would drift a ways then run full speed back up the river and float back down again. I bet I did that five times or so. Not sure how long it would go but with the control system I installed its supposed to have really good battery life. Time will tell how it does.

And 24# was plenty of thrust? I went out today with just paddles, and this thing is a barge. It's not fast and fighting the wind sucked. It's doable, but I can't wait to get a motor on there.

haha it's a big boat for sure. I guess i'm used to handling them I didn't feel it was that hard to paddle myself. Def need a longer paddle because of how wide it is. The 24lb seems to do ok and I could go up river no problem at a pretty good pace. For what I need I think it will be just fine. If I had to do it over again I would probably get the Minnkota Endura C2 since it has the variable speed built in. Mine didn't and I had to buy a controller for it. I got the motor in a trade so I figured I would just use it.

I had a friend give me a really old endura 50# on trade. It's got multiple speeds but it's not variable as much as click gears. I haven't had a chance to put a battery on it yet. I'm heading to get my battery today. I have another friend that offered to sell me a 2hp Yamaha outboard with less than ten hours on it, but I don't know if I want to spend the money and then have to deal with gas and fumes on a boat that will be used for bow hunting in the fall. I hope to try out the electric today and I'll report back.

The 50lb should move it! The outboard would be cool but it's more than I want to mess with. I have bass boats if I wanna move fast haha.

Are you guys trailering the NuCanoe?

I've been hauling mine in my truck with a bed extender. I put the transom against the front of my bed since it's flat, throw a ratchet strap over the front and go. I do have a trailer when hauling both yaks and it works great. i found out Saturday that my SeaGhost 130 fits down inside the Frontier perfectly and makes hauling both of them very easy.

I'll tell you what, after this weekend, I'm considering it. That damn thing is heavy. And by myself it sucks to take it apart and load on the truck. And if you have a motor attached, You have to take it off to put the wheel kit on. Plus the wheels are all the way in the back meaning you have to pick up all the weight of the boat by the front handle which broke on me in my yard when trying to put it all away at the end.

I'm going to make a different wheel kit that rides in the center for it asap.

I also learned that if you put a grp 27 battery in the back and a 200# guy in the back, with only a 3 year old in the front, that the scupper plugs become a lot more important. We must of had 6" of water in the back of the boat. By adjusting the seats we were able to minimize it some. I'll be adding a wiring kit to move the battery to the front of the boat soon.

Other than that however, little e had a blast. No fish but he was crying when it was time to get off the water.

My kids love it as well. My wife had both kids in the Frontier this weekend and my boy stood in the front and fished the whole time. No issues at all

My Hobie is pretty heavy as well. Sometimes loading it in and out of the truck is a pain if there's a significant slope. I'm going to add the Boonedox landing gear soon to solve my problem.

I tried going through leoadventures to get the Frontier. They approved my membership and the day i submitted my order a week later they cancelled my membership. Apparently they made a mistake and my job is classified as a non profit. I havent heard anything about my order maybe ill get lucky and itll go through!..... Its a long shot but if not ill have to hold off until i can afford to pay full price :/
