XOP Platform kits?

Just got my setup together today, thanks to Erniepower for the awesome, well built platform kit. I have a machining background with no access to machines currently, so I'm usually overly critical on others' metal work.... Man, jam up job here, looks great! Now to figure out how to setup quietly and quickly!

I was considering using a lone wolf seat with this set also, rather than buying an XOP seat on top of my current lone wolf stand I'm not using. Any further info as to the compatibility of Lonewolf seats to this riser?

Ike, I think it depends on the seat. Some have fit, and others haven't. The biggest factor has been the location of the seat adjustment screw. If the screw is too high, then the support plate needs to be adjusted up. I'll send you my number in a pm if you want to chat through this.

Erniepower,I have a XOP seat, stand offs, and the amsteel (I can splice it myself) so can I get just the post parts from you?
PM Me please.

So you guys really like using the xop seat instead of the steps once your locked in and ready to hunt?

Definitely helps !

At first, i was still using the cranford srew steps, but went to the double platform, and i really like that. I can now walk around the trees i hunt.

Am I the only guy on here that thinks the woopie sling on the XOP platform sucks, what I mean is
they are a real pain to adjust right and had it out today and it pulled apart, What am I doing wrong guys.

I had a hard time with the UCR that came with it. I had a problem with it slipping loose w side pressure on platform. I know use the Amsteel and make a stepp knot. Much easier for me.

The stepp knot is the best way I have found, but some people don't like to tie knots or don't trust themselves to do it right. I would even suggest backing the stepp knot up with a half hitch after you get everything set. For the guys who don't like knots, I send a UCR rope. It it's easy to remove the sliding part however and use it for the stepp knot version.

I thought the whole point of the saddle was to stay nice and light so you can cover a lot of ground and still sit in a stand for a while, do you really need all this for your feet? Never used a saddle that's why I ask, need to figure out what to get. I saw a youtube vid with a single strap that had multiple pegs all around the tree, that seems like a pretty simple solution, anyone knows where you can find it? Ameristep? Are they out of business? I don't want to be screwing metal steps into trees every time I hunt, doesn't seem fair to the trees!

For some it is. I have a bunch of platforms in my garage that I'm going to sell because I'm never going to use them. For others they add enough comfort to make the weight difference worth it. In the end it all boils down to personal preferences.

Yes, the pegs around the tree were the plastic ameristeps. There is lots of discussions on here about them. They are discontinued but they pop up in the classifieds quite often so keep your eyes open. You will want to use an over center buckle with them, there is a sticky on that also.

Thanks for the info, Ameristeps, they were made out of plastic? Yuck, can you throw some pictures? I don't like the idea of standing on plastic, but hey I'm new here, I have no idea. I was thinking a few of the Stepp's from the Stepp Ladder system around the tree is the best I can come up with at the moment, at least based on what I want to do without putting a bunch of holes in helpless trees, lol.

Yep, plastic, but they are really strong. And of the platform options, they are probably the most mobile. 4-5 steps let you walk around the tree as needed to make your shot.

This set doesn't have a boat buckle on it, but you get the idea.
