Looking To Buy First Tree Saddle - never used one before...

My name is Chris, and I live in Aurora, IL, and I will be hunting in west, central IL (Schuyler County) for the foreseeable future. I am 45 years old, and a relative novice bow hunter (less than 5 years), but have gun hunted since young. In looking to increase my bow hunting knowledge, I purchased John & Chris Eberhart's books/vids, and am looking to make the move to hunting out of a tree saddle. Obviously, TrophyLine is no longer in business, so I was wondering if anyone could make any recommendations for other manufacturers. I've looked into the Aero Hunter and Guido Web, but have not purchased either, as I don't know what other hunters thought of the products, or if there are any other products I should look into.

Any, and all, recommendations would be appreciated, and thank you, in advance - Chris

Welcome!
I have no experience with the Guido, but their communication was excellent when I had questions about sizing. Even responded on a Sunday.
I use the Aero. Takes a bit to adjust but once dialed in it's great.

You'll get plenty of great advice and recommendations on this site. Prepare yourself!

Welcome Chris. I think the aero hunter is a great saddle. There is the current version out now, and hopefully this summer a new model will be released. Saddles pop up in the classifieds all the time also. If you end up deciding you think a different model would work for you they hold their resale value on here pretty well.

Find a leather Trophyline in the classifieds or eBay. You won't regret it!!!!

Guido is bulky, heavy, comfortable, less versatile. Aero is middle ground....ultra safe, fairly portable, easy to get around on a tree for different angles. Lighter saddles and DIY are generally less comfortable and require some homework. There's a lot of unsafe setups being used.

Aero is a great way to start

I agree with this post but would add the following comments. I have a guido and an aero . I like both of them and use both. The guido is used on short walks and long sits. The aero is the best for mobility to the tree and in the tree and is slightly less comfortable When I am comfortable I sit stiller and quieter. However it is easy to make a shot in an aero. Just my two cents worth. You can buy both and sell the one you don't want. Guidos web will likely hold its value well if they stop making it

Agreed.

Then when you get into the Sit N Drag, you will be more portable but won't be a still. Plus there is a learning curve. Getting a purpose built kit is a good way to get started.

This is what I do. works well and if nothing else I think the climbing harness is better than store bought safety systems for my style of hunting.
