Marsh Hunting boots

Hey Guys,

Question: I'm in MD and chasing sika in the marshes. I bought a pair of cheap hip boots to get in with the thought of putting on other boots for my climb and sit. Well, I don't think I can stay dry doing that, so I ask, before I buy a pair of Dan's with aeroheads, if anyone can recommend a good hip boots that is stiff enough to handle a day on a platform. I'm primarily a leaner. Thanks in advance.

Is it cold there yet? If I know I got to go thru real deep water and it isn't too cold I usually wear my crocs and fast dry river pants.... I'll be dry in 30 minutes or so

Not yet, are mornings are starting to dip into the 50 degree range. I'm going to experiment with different insoles first.

I have cheapo hip boots that I wear if it's cold and then I will change into crocs at the tree and I carry some paracord I can girth to the tree and hang the hips off that

@realtown12 - if the water will be below the top of your thighs, it’s hard to beat the Tingly rubber boots with Yoders waterproof chaps.

Checkout the YouTube video on them that @Nutterbuster has on his channel. He recommends the lightweight chaps. It includes a link where you can buy them.

Tingley boots are almost like wearing crocs - they’re really comfortable and lightweight. I went with the briar-proof Yoders “super chaps” and love them. With this setup you won’t need an extra set of boots, crocs, or whatever. But if you’re going into stuff that’ll be over the top of your thighs, you’ll need a different solution.

Which model Tingley do you recommend. Ive been looking at these for a couple years but havent had a need to replace my Lacrosse until now. Tingley has what seems like 100s of different rubber boots and not counting the safety toe and gardneing styles. I'm highly interested in the ones that wear like crocs. Thanks in advance

@realtown12 - The tread isn't great for traction - that's the main compromise with Tingleys - but considering the value price and that the weight is so light it will blow your mind, they are definitely worth a try.

@smshuntr - Here's the link to the site that Nutterbuster recommended. I purchased from these folks and they had them to my door in under 10 days. Nutter recommends the lightweight Yoders chaps, but I went with the Yoders "super chaps" because they are the same price but briar proof. they're probably a little bit bulkier than the lightweight chaps, but hey - they're briar proof - and they're still ridiculously light weight for waders that goto the top of your thighs, and that fold down when you want them out of the way.

I've not used the yoders, that seems to make sense. I do use chota hippies and wading boots though. They work great.

Anyone try this set up? I have this page marked. You can get the Yoder on a boot with a little more traction it looks like. I my self want more traction. Looks like more of what I am use to wearing.

I'm just walking marshes, lots of soft bottom, my main concern was sliding off a stepp while climbing.
