So I heard about a guy using lidar maps to do some map scouting on Monotonous terrain. But in searching I can’t find a map for my area or really any lidar map that is interactive. Anyone else heard of using lidar maps or Is anyone even using them to scout? From my understanding the lidar map is a more detail topo rather than showing 10-25ft elevation change it can show anywhere down to 1-6ft elevation terrain. Any info on how to get a lidar map would be game changing for my area.

LIDAR is legit. We are now using it for my occupation and it has been working great to determine canopy densities, defined timber type changes, mechanically operable slopes etc. You can even see old home sites and anomalies in the ground from old rock walls, cellars, and wells for protection purposes.

But how does a average joe get his hands on some of these maps? I got some public ground I’d love to have these maps for.

There probably is not LIDAR for your specific area. Soon we will all have it in our vehicles and basically everywhere though so you will get your fix.
