Northern Mn here. I bought some amsteel to play with as sort of a winter hobby.

Outside of the common stick/platform attachments what sort of DIY Amsteel things have you guys made?

Following.
Just went in with a buddy on a bunch of 1/8 from Dano for a winter project.
Gonna make some USA ropes but curious as to other amsteel uses.

@always89y makes a whoopie belt out of Amsteel. Think it comes standard on the Sidewinder. Nifty little thing, and silent.

I’ve been playing with 1/4” and 3/16”. I made My secondary or redundant bridge out of 1/4”. Single step aiders. Attachment cords for cam cleats of course. I also hitched an OCB to my platform using a piece with loops on each end. I’ll be following this one to see what else I can come up with. Gonna make a gear hanger out of some when I get smaller diameter. The 3/16” fits, but not too smooth in a jamcam so I’m using paracord which I’m not fond of.

In the spirit of keeping this alive- I’m planning to make 2 prusik tenders and stick loops for the Novix minis

Has anybody tried a attaching a prusik tender to a climbing stick to use in conjunction with the USA ropes?
I would envision leaving the prusik end around the button, then throwing the loop end around the tree and over button.
Tighten one-handed.

1/8” material.

I don’t recall the length of the loop but it starts with around 20” of Amsteel. My intent is to have the loop just a little shorter than the short side of the prusik as seen in the image. They just seem to function best for me that way.

I spliced a continuous loop for my JX3 adjustable amsteel bridge out of 3/16". I got fancy with that loop....full bury from both sides, with the buried ends tapered nicely and overlapping in the middle, so it had a nice consistent thickness around the whole loop.

I'm using it with a Schwabisch rather than a prussic on the bridge though.

Be careful doing this. Mine flipped to the other side of the Prusik knot and it starts to loose..kinda sketchy
Tie a knot in the center so it can't slip over your prusik or make a smaller loop. It's not load bearing so no reason not to knot it. I've used paracord for the same application.
