Cut 5ft of climb spec tubular webbing. Inserted a stiff rope for foot loop. Sewed the two ends to make a continuous loop. Larks headed on bottom of stick. Each stick now gets me 6ft to top step. Could go longer if I was taller or wanted to stretch. 3 sticks now get me where 4 use to. Thanks for the ideas from our great members.
Also added a bungee to one stick to wrap them all tight and secure for packing instead of that plastic buckle strap they came with.
I find putting the side of my boot against the tree directly in front of me, not to the side of the tree, and putting the strap in the middle of my foot gives a solid hold for stepping up. Seems to have less chance of kick out than putting my toe to the tree.
