I got my Kestral yesterday and was able to get a couple hour hunt in it last night. It will no doubt take a little time to get it dialed in but overall I was pretty happy with it. Tonight I was playing around with an idea for some accessory loops. The ones offered by New Tribe look nice but I don't like the idea of the use of plastic which could break at the worst time so I decided to come up with something else. What I came up with is using 550 cord and slipping it inside some 3/16" PVC tubing. The tubing stiffens up the loop making it easier to clip into and it makes the loops easier to find with gloves on. I thought I'd share in case it might be something that might be of use to others.

I love this idea and made a couple changes. I bought a slightly larger cord and pulled the guts out then fed a piece of stiffer tubing through the inside before tying off the end. That way in the cold, the plastic won't be as noisy if it clangs against any metal.

Love it. Perfect to hang a versa button in.
Yep, I can thread the bracket of my platform through and carry it with me on the way up and it's easy to access and remove once I get to hunting height.

I could also hang a climbing stick from each side so I don't have to come back down to retrieve sticks. With aiders I can set the first stick then start climbing with the other two on my saddle loops. Easily up 20 feet.

That's a good idea but I don't think you'll ever get that soft PVC tubing to clank or make any noise.
