With gun season coming soon I'd like to see how you guys hang yours. In a normal stand I've always just laid mine across my lap.

I check my strap before hanging. I have a spare strap on step I hang mine from.

I built this one. Can be used as a rest the gun v swivels. Can strap the gun in it and rest the butt of the gun on the hanger where its screwed into the tree. Can use the hook on the end to hang the gun by the sling.

That's pretty slick. Only problem for me is I can't use screw ins.

Where not allowed screw ins, I use an old Ameristep strap or cranford strap step. Where screw in allowed, I just use a cheap bow hanger. One thing I do is screw it into a cheap synthetic wine cork for travel / storage. That way, I don't worry it will cause damage to my other equipment.

Anything else I need to know before the opener Saturday?

Shoot straight :D

Seriously though, you've been using your bow so you'll be fine. Since you will be resting your gun across your chest/lap you just might want to make sure you don't have any metal there for it to clank on.

Lol I was talking specifically saddle hunting related. I don't want to get into the tree to realize an "I forgot my knee pads" moment.

Use the tree and “aim small, miss small”.

Use the tree was saddle related! You can actually use the tree as a gun rest. You can also screw a step (or strap one on I guess) as a gun rest also.
