Hey I was just curious if anyone here carries a side arm in a drop thigh rig holster while saddle hunting and how does it work. Or do you carry your side arm a different way with your saddle? Any pictures would be great too!

I’ve tried it, felt it was awkward. You gotta hang it off something so if you’re wearing pants with a belt that works somewhat but I found it was pulling my pants down. With bibs on nope.
I wear either a belly band holster or chest rig.

I'm using either a chest rig or shoulder holster depending if i'm thaking the big pistol or the small one. once I hang my pack they both work good

Backpack strap holster. This way it is accessible on my hike and close enough when I'm in the tree but also out of the way

^ This. I just bought a compact uncle mike's clip on holster at walmart for my G27 or G29 (both fit). Clips on to the molle webbing on the waist belt of my Cays pack perfectly. $21

Wait, y’all can carry a side arm where you hunt??? Ha, that ain’t happening where i’m at

MD it all depends where you are. Western MD ("bear country") you can carry on public only if you are archery hunting deer (but not hiking) lol. Even with a MD carry permit, i cant carry in state parks, forests, etc. for the rest of the state. honestly when im hunting i dont want to carry, its just added weight and bulk. I would while hiking if i could but thats the law and im not losing my rights.

When I handgun hunt I use a drop leg holster but with a shoulder strap instead of a belt. It works pretty well for me. I used to use a shoulder holster but didn't like it as it felt like it was in the way a lot.

I've tried thigh rigs and really, really don't like them. I'll use one on rare occasion if what I'm wearing will interfere with drawing from a belt holster or chest rig.

This year I suspended a holster from my AGC bino pack. I'm really happy with this and will be polishing the concept in the off season. I posted in the DIY forum on it; will refrain from copying here to avoid hijacking your thread.
