SaddlePalooza - Feb 16-19, 2018 - Official Thread

Hunter education is required to hunt on Fort Stewart. Last year you had to present the physical card to purchase your license in person. This year they went to an all on-line purchase for permits. Which means you don't have to show the physical card.

The rules still state you must have the hunter Ed card on your person while hunting. HOWEVER, I've been checked multiple times by game wardens and they've never asked to see it. They want to see your GA hunting license and ft Stewart permit. You will more than likely be ok without it, but I've been going by the book for this hunt.

Concerning the hunting fees that @suicyderider found. Those are also changes. I'll dig up the hard numbers and post them here. It won't change much from the original post.

Sorry fellow saddle hunters, I'm not gonna make it this year, things have come up out of nowhere. DEAD GUM IT!!!! At least it's nothing major or any health issues.

Looks like my dad is in now too lol. Gonna be a truck load of WV hillbillies coming! Can’t wait!

Spent some time this morning on the SaddlePalooza spreadsheet squaring up payments and registration forms.

I'M SO PUMPED! This is going to be so much fun! If you haven't paid or completed the forms, try to do so in the next week. I'm locking everything down over the next couple weeks! Camp sites are reserved, and the Camp Cook is locked in. I've got a special meal planned for Saturday lunch during our Saddle Demonstration. I can't wait.

Is anyone willing to take over the organization of the Saddle Hunting Demo on Saturday? You won't need to deal with recruiting the gear; that will be provided by all the members (and a whole bunch from me :) ). I'm really just looking for someone to herd that cats while I'm dealing with lunch preparation.

And here's a little inspiration for you guys!

@g2 I'm not the best at task coordination, but I'm good at task execution
I'm definitely great at following instruction so I'll help out anyway I can since I will be around the camp the entire weekend. Just give me let me know what you need help with and I'll give it my best brother.

If I can help I will but not exactly sure what you need? So all the stuff will be out and guys can try them out? Some of the stuff I’m not familiar with? Let me know what you need

Same here lol. I'll help in any way possible tho!

Even if you have to come solo, trust me you will have a blast. I learned about this meet-up concept through Hammock hanging events. I attended several without knowing a soul. I made lifelong friends at every single hang. Wouldn't change anything.

And honestly, sometimes going by yourself is a good thing. It forces you to meet everyone and make friends.

I can't wait to meet all you guys and see some familiar faces as well.

My goal is 30 hunters. Last year we had 10.

Please post here as soon as you feel confident you'll be attending. I'll keep a running tab on the initial post.
