Rangefinder Recommendations

I am looking for recommendations on what rangefinder to get. I would prefer not to get something cheap, I have learned the hard way that you get what you pay for.

I need something rugged and bulletproof.
I won’t consider one that doesn’t compensate for angle, since that can make a huge difference at 20-30 feet height.

But aside from those two requirements, I don’t know much about them. I found this one on amazon that also shows an estimated arrow arc height, which might be cool to know.

I spent a long time researching and chose the sig kilo 2000. At the time it was $500. Now you can get them for a lot less. It is absolutely fantastic.

Main features that I wanted were accuracy for both bow and rifle ranges, angle comp, red lighted display, and tough.

It came down to the kilo 2000, Leica, and vortex. The sig was new which was a gamble offset by the lifetime unconditional warranty. When compared side by side I was sold on the sig because it spit out ranges considerably faster than the Leica and more accurate than the vortex according to research.

With the sig you can also hold the button down and get a constant reading which I find myself using a lot. It lets you get through brush and stuff and crazy long ranges.

It’s super simple buttons and menus are right up my minimalist ally. Also, the red lit display is auto darkening and it works so well in low light conditions compared to the others.

I couldn’t be more happy with it.

Amazon has that Leupold for $209, I might have to go with that one. I had been seeing the msrp listed on the Leupold website and kind of had it on the back burner

The sit is probably overkill for me. I am almost exclusively hunting at bow ranges, and would use a rangefinder before the deer is in sight. range numerous items around my stand as references for when the deer does arrive.

I bought the sig kilo 1250. I am extremely impressed. Super fast ranges and as some one else mentioned you can hold the button down and get a constant range as you move over targets. Think it can give a couple ranges per second. Anyway I am loving mine but what I had before was 12 year old Bushnell yardage pro... Sig Kilo 1250 is running a little over $200 on ebay new right now.

Well, I broke down and got the Leupold. The reviews on the SIG Sauer looked awesome. But for almost twice the cost, I couldn’t justify tying up all my hunting budget on one item right now.

I think you'll like it. It does that constant ranging too and it fits in your shirt pocket.

I’m gonna stick it on a retrieval line like @g2outdoors

I've been doing it all season and grown to really like it. I am going to find a smaller retractable leash though. The one I'm using from Hobie is a bit bulky.

That’s interesting. The bass pro website has them on backorder yesterday.

I have a leupold 1000 tbr. I love it especially with the red oled which is really visiable. It has stood up to alot of abuse and is extremely accurate.

I bought this one and I'm pretty happy with it. I think you can get it for $225 or so.

I really like its size...compared to most others it is very small and compact. I also wanted to use it as a monocular and this has pretty good glass. It also has some nifty features like measuring antler spread (if you can get your deer to sit still).
I second the Leupold ..... I have used the full draw since 2007-8 just a solid range finder!!!

How are you liking the full draw 2 rangefinder?

I am contemplating getting the leupold rx-1200i TBR because of the OLED (red) display. It’s supposed to be really good for low light conditions although I have seen some people saying that it is too bright.

Is the black LED display on the full draw 2 very easy and quick to read, and would you say it is easy to see in low light conditions?

I haven’t had any issues with it at all. It would really have to fade quite a bit for me to not be able to use it... I figure as infrequently as the LED’s will be lit, it will take a LONG time to fade.

I have a Nikon had it for years love it and never failed me.

Anyone have any experience with the Bushnell G-Force DX ARC ?

Amazon has it at 4.4/5 w 110 reviews and an "A" Fakespot rating. Right now it's listed there for $229 ( http://a.co/aRm9nkr ) ... but the seller (Rogers Sporting Goods) has it at $159 + free shipping on their own site ( https://www.rogerssportinggoods.com/bushnell-g-force-dx-arc-laser-rangefinder.html ) - which seems really cheap for it's features & range... suspiciously cheap?

What I know about it is that it has red illuminated crosshairs and readings, which is important to me in low light - but I can't find any reviews that put it against a Nikon, Vortex, Leupold, etc. I expect all of them to have better optics than Bushnell in general, but this thing has pretty good reviews on its own. Thought I'd ask the braintrust here.

Thanks.
