I've never been an official scorer or ever wanted to be but as I understood the rule there has to be separation between the points in order to measure the main beam in between the points. They have adjusted some of the rules over the years and I may be thinking of how they ruled such things long ago and it's different now. idk
it’s been a while since I read the article but if I remember correctly you extend the line of the points down to the main beam to determine if the point comes out of the top of the beam. The webbing between the points doesn’t matter. It was close, too close for one guy to decide, but appeared to be a normal point. Hopefully, I can find the article again. If I do I’ll post it.
