SaddlePalooza - Feb 16-19, 2018 - Official Thread

I need to be packing. I will bring a set of lone wolf sticks and stepp ladder if someone needs to borrow something. I will also bring a size 2 kestrel someone is welcome to hanging from. My son will be hunting with me so I doubt I will leave the ground unless I find an awesome spot and can’t hunt it from the ground. I don’t think I am bringing my boat. The gauge seems like it’s still rising and already to high. It can come down fast so we will see what the next few days will bring. I planned on getting there Thursday evening and leaving Sunday afternoon but bumped it back a day. I will be there Friday evening and leaving Monday afternoon. Looking forward to meeting everyone. If there is anything someone needs that they don’t have or chose not to bring because they are flying let me know. I’ve got a couple boom sticks registered that I will not bring unless someone needs one.
 
Came to the realization that we need to bring a trailer so I will have lots of room to bring any extra supplies anyone needs - will probably have an extra camp stove, tent, chairs, I do have 2 extra sleeping bags that are clean - nothing fancy (Coleman) but will work - also have an extra sleep pad. Might as well pack the cornhole board too. Starting to become "glamping" LOL

@g2outdoors do we need to buy a fishing permit on sportsman to fish the pond at the campground or just a Georgia fishing license. Also just to be clear Madelynn and I will not have to check into isportsman to use the campground area. Does this include the pond. Sorry if I'm repeating anything, just want to get my ducks in a row before we head out.

-Cell service is generally good around the camp. Out in the hunting areas it will be spotty.
-Trailers will need to be parked on the road about 100 yards from the camp site.
-With all the rain we've gotten, the river looks like it's going to be kind of high. Anything over 9 foot is basically flood stage.
-You are supposed to check-in to iSportsman for any recreation outside of the campground. I can't imagine anyone will give you any trouble for fishing in Holbrook pond as long as you have the GA license and an iSportsman pass.

@redsquirrel - can you unlock the "Live From SaddlePalooza" thread so we can start posting pics?

It's a New Orleans thing. They usually quit making them after Mardi Gras which is Tuesday but I'm having two made to be picked up Wednesday evening before I head out. Just thought it would be something for a lot of guys that have never experienced anything to do with Mardi Gras. I would like to try the stepp ladder at some point if you aren't using it, even if it's just around camp!
 
Who has bought their license? I'm looking at the 1day combo hunting/fishing (short term) for $30, plus adding on additional days for $10. Is that right? When I get to the end I am assuming this will let me print my license out?

I think that sounds right, I had to go back to the main menu then to my permits to get it to print.

That’s what I did. It all prints on one small sheet to put in your wallet

Thanks guys! Just got mine, all printed out and ready to go. Registered with isportsman this morning too!
 
How many guys are bringing extra chairs for the people flying in? I was going to bring 6 or 8 extra chairs, but I can just grab a couple extra besides what Madelynn and I will use if there's some other guys that are going to do the same. And just a reminder for the guys flying in I'm bringing a .22 magnum with ammo a .270 with ammo and a Benelli 12 gauge with slugs. I'm going to also bring a rifle rest for anybody needing to sight in at the range. I'm going to make the dangerous assumption that we can purchase targets at the range if need be.
