I'd like to see it go to one. States that have gone to a one buck limit are moving up quick in the number of big bucks being killed. Destination states have restricted buck harvests to put age on them. The other thing going for them is food in the form of agriculture, but you can get high quality food without ag. That's where habitat comes in. I've seen absolute giants in Louisiana with no ag around. But age is extremely important. So, curtailing the buck harvests to a point where you get more bucks advancing to older age classes is an important step that other states have implemented. Many Louisiana hunters may not want older age bucks, and would rather just any buck. So, LDWF manages for maximum sustained yield instead of a more even age structure (unless you're in DMAP and manage for older bucks).I would just love to see two bucks tags instead of three and less rifle days or purely lottery rifle on a few WMAs. Thistlewaite during the 4 on one side days was awesome to hunt compared to now. I don’t particularly care for a point rule but those restrictions made a huge difference.
