I think that I saw an effective looking hook for hauling up gear a while back on a post somewhere here but can't find it now.
Does anyone have any info?

Thanks

RD

I've seen treble-hooks with their barbs ground down and rare-earth magnets taped on the bottom, and mechanical pinchers with grappling-hook mods. Even saw a custom machined metal weight with removable arms and a magnet in the end, in case James Bond wants to go hunting. Any idea what it looked like?

That yellow grapnel is closer for sure, but $40 seems a little on the steep side!
I like the fact that the hooks fold in on the gear grappler though.

You could get a big treble hook, cut off the barbs, add a weight, for a couple dollars. But... the yellow grapnel is a better product than I could make myself. I put an 8 inch loop onto the end so I can put it on or take it off of a pull line easily.

I cut and welded old s-hooks from broken bungees. Been using them for years. I think I got a post in the diy section or at least some where on here.

I bought a weighted treble hook from Bass Pro. Pinched the barbs flat with a pliars. Filed the points so they weren't so sharp. Then dipped in tool handle coating, 2-3 coats. It works great.
