College, Car, and Home Costs for Our Kids

I'll give the dissenting opinion - LOL I have two kids in college as we speak, one about to go to law school and one that is at the University of Alabama (I went to Auburn), so I pay out of state education fees. I did the Florida Pre-Paid education fund and both kids qualified for Brighfutres...

    Trophyline Platow pack

Not sure I am much help, but I just bought one, and I think I am going to really like it. However, Im in the deep south so I dont carry many layers with me. With that said there are tie down straps on the bottom and the top. I think you could put a hoodie or an extra long sleeve shirt in the...

What Percentage of the Time Do You Think Deer Blow/Snort When They Wind You?

Pretty much what everyone else has said. However, I find that I get busted a lot more in the warmer months than in the cooler months, and I almost never get busted during the rut.

    Deep South early season

I hunt the first week of bow season, and then wait till it gets closer to the rut. However, I may hunt a few spots throughout the season just to see what happens. The first week, I hunt in the evenings and if I feel a need to come back and hunt in the morning Ill just leave everything up in the...

    Game retrieval

Cart and sled if you cant quarter them in the field. Strap the sled to the cart, take the cart in as far as you can, then grab the sled. Drag deer out in sled, then load on to the cart and take to the truck Take a reflective tack with you, to put in a tree wherever you leave your cart. It sucks...

    Moon And Deer Activity??

That's one of the things I struggle with, with regards to Dr. Sheppard's tactics. In my opinion, I dont think weather affects deer as much as we like to think it does. After all, we are hunting something that lives outdoors in the environment all year long. Their bodies adjust and they adapt to...

    Moon And Deer Activity??

Dr. Bob Sheppard's book - Whitetails. Probably one of the best books written on hunting whitetails, and written long before its time. I don't agree with everything he says, but its a very good read. I have also read and tried Jeff Murrays book - Moon Guide, but to be honest I cant make any sort...

Tethrd ESS vs. the Phantom for a newby?

Not sure I am much help here, but I am 50 and use the old Anderson Slings almost exclusively, I am about 5' 9" and 170 bs. I just recently ordered an ESS but returned it, because I didn't like it as much as the Anderson Slings. I thought the "rings" on the ESS would make a difference, but I...

Baiting For Deer, Do you do Bait?

I don't and never have, but I've been around some guys that do, on private. Truthfully, there are some guys that do it better than others. Ill stop short of saying there is an art form to it, but again, some guys definitely have techniques that work better than others. I have one friend in...

Setup breakdown in new growth pines.

I usually find the buck bedding on the edge of the pines where it is the thickest, and the doe bedding inside the pines. If you can find the food source; get on the edge of the pines, on the down wind side during the rut, between the bedding and the food source, and you should be in the game.
