How hi can I get with stiks

Before I started one sticking I had four 30" sticks. Two had double aiders, and two had single aiders. My feet were always right at 30'. My pull up rope is marked because I am OCD about height. If I can get my feet to approx 30' in a spot I don't have to worry about the wind. When I started one...

Official admit you fell of your stick thread

So while one sticking the other day I got myself into a pickle. I lowered myself to adjust my platform, and in doing so, the lever of my madrock was activated causing me to drop suddenly. Instead of just doing nothing like I should have, I panicked and reflexively grabbed the lever causing me to...

High N Dry Breathable Chest Waders Review

Thanks Sniper. My buddy is a rice and crawfish farmer. He is the one that told me about Dan's. He went to those because he was buying multiple pairs a year sometimes for his workers. He said they get 2 plus crawfish seasons (late Nov to late June) out of the Dans. His guys are in them all day...

Thoughts on a .44 Magnum Rifle for Whitetail hunting?

I would look hard at a CVA Scout in 350 Legend with a 20" barrel. It is a very maneuverable little rifle with adequate power for shooting a full sized buck at 150 yards at any angle. To add, it shoots bullets designed to kill game. With the 44 mag, not so much. You are asking for trouble...

Hunting Bikers - was it worth it?

If people used them honestly on public land I wouldn't mind them. I hope they ban them in my state on WMA's. They are supposed to only be used on ATV trails but none of them listen to that. It really upsets me for my 78 year old father. He has given up on hunting off handicapped only atv trails...

High N Dry Breathable Chest Waders Review

Care to give a long term update on the High n Dry or Dan's? Also, would they be too noisy or bow hunting?

    New saddle/less stress on back

Overwatch Transformer I highly recommend the Overwatch Outdoors Transformer. I have lower back problems as well. I can sit longer in that saddle than any lock-on and some climbers. I absolutely love mine. I also have their back band. I sat daylight to dark on a few hunts last year.

Official admit you fell of your stick thread

From my experience, aiders need to be attached as wide as possible to your steps. This is so that you can get your foot easily into them when going up and down the tree. Placing the aider wide and on the step gets it as far as possible away from the tree making it easy to your boot into the...

    Packing It In

Anything with load shelf would work. I love my Mystery Ranch Pop-up 28. My saddle fits inside the pack, but I usually put it in the load shelf on the days I pack it in.

Official admit you fell of your stick thread

Yes, first season using sticks I fell off one. Lineman's belt saved me. While one-sticking a leaner I ended up on the other side of the tree when making a move. I almost couldn't get back on my stick. It made me think about if that happened without a rappel line, and I wouldn't have been able...

    Rappel rope question

I when I started rappelling I couldn't understand why the quick link. I thought it was because people were worried about a biner gate opening on the tree. The more I read on here people were more worried about cross loading which didn't make sense. Girthing a tree trunk definitely didn't match...

Favorite one stick setup and rappelling device?

I like a two step aider. Mine is one I made out of 1/4" dyneema. A cam cleat is a must. I use 7mm Sterling accessory cord with it. I don't get the 12 strand dyneema appeal with these. The stick doesn't set as good with it and is too light making it difficult to get round larger trees or if...

    ok transformer or buzzard roost?

I would pick the transformer. After 3 seasons of hunting and several tree trimming jobs in my yard there isn't a single stich loose on mine. The Buzzard Roost seems like it takes inspiration from the transformer in the way it seeks to distribute the weight. The transformer does it...
