Favorite Hunting Clothing Brand (where you like the camo pattern)

There’s never a moment I don’t have on at least four different patterns of camo. Was fortunate enough to get invited on a hunt a few years ago that was partially sponsored by Sitka. Everyone there had on Sitka head to toe. I didn’t have any, but when I saw them I looked down and I had on six...

Are some rubber boots better with ground scent?

Like Gumleaf, Le Chameau (which is what I prefer) are high percentage rubber, and like Gumleaf both outlast the other “rubber” boots ten fold. You pay for that quality. The difference in ground scent amounts to that difference in lifespan. All rubber boots carry odor that eventually fades...

Can we start a communal turkey feathers collection/market thread?

I always give mine to an old man makes arrows. I don’t bow hunt but I do have a couple of his arrows just for novelty. Would be happy to mail you some. He only uses primaries, which is what I assume you’d be wanting as well. I get to shoot four birds a year so I’ve typically got primaries off...

what dump pouches you guys using??

I use a Latitude Method Dump Pouch for my rappelling set up. Holds 40’ rope, rappel method, pull cord, etc. Plenty of space and quiet. https://www.latitudeoutdoors.com/products/dump-pouch-1 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Understanding wind and thermals in the mountains

Sounds to me like you were setting up on a just off wind, not a flat wrong wind. Just off is the choice we all need to be making most the time. A great wind for us seldom gets us where we need to be. A flat wrong wind, though, and you’re never even in the game. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

help me out here with found sign

Most creeks show heavy rub lines because most creeks serve as travel corridors and funnels. I don’t believe the sign you’re describing would be associated with bedding. I think it sounds very much associated with travel. The question with travel is always: where is he coming from, where is he...

    Scrape soil, does it matter?

I second this. Licking branches are not always accompanied by a scrape, AND the research has shown the licking branches being used throughout the year even when the scrape has gone dry and is not being actively hit. Most the recent research seems to point to the licking branch being of greater...

    Gumleaf boots going belly up

I run a pair of the Vierzonords. They’re great as well, just don’t have the calf measurement specificity of the Chasseurs. The fit and the heavy lug soles are what I love about them. A German fellow I hunt with is who turned me onto them. He’s hunting a pair of Chasseurs he’s had for over 20yrs...

    Gumleaf boots going belly up

Le Chameau is the better boot. Their Chasseur boots have been the best 100% rubber hunting boot for 50+ years. Gumleaf ran a close second, though. Hate to see them fold. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I gotcha! This is probably pretty comparable to the 22”. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Saddle climber, what's available??

Not sure. I’m not a machinist. Just drew the design and took it to a fellow runs a welding shop. It’s probably 5-6 with just the metal. It’s 20” wide outside to outside. The 22” one you made was 3.5lbs? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Love these boots

I finally threw out a pair of Rockys I bought in 2009 last summer. I hunted and hiked in them for 14 years. Got pics of me with dead deer wearing them things in 2013 and pics from last spring with a dead turkey a decade later. To each their own, I guess. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
