Saddle Death… Stay safe out there.

My condolences go out to his wife and loved ones. This is an eye opener for me. I am just getting into saddle hunting. And I am as of now, just turned 66 years old. Being almost 250 lbs, I am active and can do about anything I want, but 50 pounds overweight just the same. Normally, I hunt out...

Hello from Arkansas, just getting started.

Thank you, guys. I appreciate the warm welcome. This is a great site to learn about saddle hunting for sure. I am looking forward to giving it a try. Currently waiting for all of my gear to be delivered.

    Cranford folding steps, weight rating?

Thanks, I was just looking for opinions of people who have used them, a fair amount. I imagine that they have been tested well above the 250 max weight. I screwed the two different models I bought recently, into a tree, today and tested my weight out on them. They seem very solid.

    Cranford folding steps, weight rating?

Well, no responses? Does everyone hunt public on here? Nobody uses screw in steps?

    Cranford folding steps, weight rating?

The paperwork that comes with these, says 250 lbs max. I weight maybe 265 with boots and clothing. Would you be concerned?

    Method for hanging your arrows?

Good ideas, everyone. Yep, I have just been thinking about this part of the equation. Eberhart had something in one his videos where he had bracket, that held his quiver pretty solid, it looked like, where one could just reach up and remove an arrow without needing a second hand at all to steady...

    Method for hanging your arrows?

How and where do most of you, hang your arrows while in the tree? I am a trad shooter, mostly recurve and sometimes I use a back quiver, but I also have an old Kiwi quiver I thought about using with a sling, but I have been thinking about how to hang it, and where in the tree, where it will be...

Anybody ground hunt out of their saddle?

I am just getting into saddle hunting, but this sounds like a good idea, when you just need a place to sit, and don't want to climb or don't see a tree you like. I am sure it will work, because like many others, I have killed quite a few deer, by just taking a position beside the base of a tree...

Tethrd ESS vs. the Phantom for a newby?

I do have some knee pads, but thanks for reminding me to dig them out.

Tethrd ESS vs. the Phantom for a newby?

Well, I called Overwatch Outdoors, to inquire about the Transformer saddle, and check on availability and I didn't get an answer, because I called after five, but Jeremie called me back later in the evening and we talked quite a while, and it just so happened that he had just finished a size 2...

Tethrd ESS vs. the Phantom for a newby?

I guess the marketing is what Tethrd is really good at. Because I was convinced that it was the choice to make, until I got on here. But it's obvious that Tethrd is not very popular on this site.

Tethrd ESS vs. the Phantom for a newby?

I kind of like the look of the XOP Mondo for a harness, and it's not that expensive. It's supposed to double as a tree saddle. I am not sure, I would buy it for the saddle option. But it would probably serve my harness needs for my ladder stands.

Tethrd ESS vs. the Phantom for a newby?

Ok, I am learning. It does look like the Transformer or the Buzzard Roost are definitely better saddles than the Phantom or the ESS. Thank you, fellows, for all of the good information.

Tethrd ESS vs. the Phantom for a newby?

I have my lineman rope and tether coming, carabiners and ropeman 1's coming. I think I may play around some, DIY at ground level, with a cinch strap, off of a horse saddle, I have. I know it plenty strong to hold me, and just get the feel for being suspended by the teather, and also lineman's...
