    First hunt in a saddle

+1 on getting better at picking trees. Or avoiding other trees.

Who is hunting from a JX3 ? (I'm seeking input)

I haven’t hunted out of mine but I have shot out of it… For me it’s going to take some getting used to. It’s not bad, but slightly different than my other saddle. I definitely need to tweak how I have it adjusted and just figure out how I like it set up. I have no doubt when I do it’ll be a...

Safety - HSS (Rope-Style Tree Strap) as tether or lineman?

I’ve used it for a linesman belt for years. Used correctly I believe it’s safe. I will not speak to its use as a tether, don’t know enough to say.

    First hunting sit-eye opening

Man there’s so many cool methods like one sticking and rappelling but I gotta tell you finally deciding to just keep it simple and run 4 sticks and a platform was what I needed to do. I have no doubt I’ll continue to play and evolve and look to get lighter and streamlined…but most of my hunts...

Cheap Stuff that Gets the Job Done

100% the biggest value in bourbon. Possibly in life also.

    First hunting sit-eye opening

Finally nutted up and hunted from the saddle tonight. I’ve been playing around with it for a few years but never in the woods. Probably laziness of having pre sets and feeling like I didn’t have time to saddle hunt. Always liked the idea but never committed. Fast forward to the “this is my year...

    Suitable Carabiners

Good to know. I’m not there yet. Everything I’m running is manufactured for its intended purpose. I’m fine with prussiks at the moment. Not looking to complicate the system until I know every part.

    Suitable Carabiners

Thanks guys. I’m making a list just so I know what’s trusted. Ordered a few to get hands on with and try and build up a preference for one type or another.

    Suitable Carabiners

Thanks. Exactly what I’m looking for. Never heard of DMM. I don’t have much knowledge when it comes to the climbing gear cross over that saddle hunting brings. Just trying to make sure I’m not taking unnecessary risks to save a dollar. My goal was to stay with petal, black Diamond, Kong, etc...

    Suitable Carabiners

Thanks guys. That was exactly what I was looking for. Planning to stash a few (hoist line, hanging gear from pack or saddle, etc) just to know I have spares if one goes missing or for some reason is not useable.

    Suitable Carabiners

Looking for recommendations of suitable back up carabiners. Figuring I’m going to need some as I’m getting into this. What’s a widely available, budget friendly carabiner that’s trusted? I’m looking for something that could be used for linesman/bridge connections, etc. What am I looking for...

    Spypoint issues

Watching. Trying to figure out if the link micro I just set isn’t transmitting or if the spot just isn’t as good as I thought it would be. I’m assuming it’s me and not the camera though.

Are saddle hunters automatically DIY kayakers?

Also guilty. Nothing like drilling holes in a brand new hull.

    NY Newbie

Thanks gentlemen. I’m excited to get going. I got to play with my wild edge steps. Not as intimidating as I feared they would be. Next is to try and get comfortable enough to use them instead of my stick ladder for hang on sets.

Well it finally happened to me

    Awesome. Good luck.
