    Suspenders

I ended up not being a huge fan of the Marsupial Gear harness as saddle suspenders on my hunt over the weekend. It felt like too much, I wanted to wear it under some layers but it felt weird sandwiched between layers. I also realized my saddle is not really that heavy and I don’t have issues...

    GriGri+ mishap….Viewer discretion advised

In your original post, you said you “went to sit back to get my step…..when i sat back, i kept going” Did you have your hand on the brake line when you sat back? That’s what I mean that it’s not intended to be hands free. There must be tension on the brake line for it to engage reliably, either...

    GriGri+ mishap….Viewer discretion advised

This could be several things. What diameter rope were you using? Also, the GriGri is NOT designed to brake hands-free. Petzl expressly prohibits using it this way. Always have your hand on the brake strand when you load it...

    Suspenders

Got it to work, not exactly the most elegant but I think it would work out fine. I have a Latitude Classic which has just one row of PALS at the top for attachment. The Marsupial Gear harness has gatekeeper buckles sewn on, and they would normally go through a small sewn loop on the top of the...

    Edelrid Pinch

Looks nice, I wonder how well the connection point will work on a bridge, seems like it will either twist the bridge or orient itself sideways.

Times you had to instantly rappel?

I was on public ground earlier this season. Not wearing orange since it wasn’t gun deer season yet. I had literally just gotten up the tree when I heard some bullets whizzing by. Not sure exactly how close, but I wasn’t going to stick around. Must have been a small game hunter shooting .22s...

    Suspenders

I’ve got a Marsupial Gear modular belt with harness. I ought to try rigging that harness up to the saddle. Can post the result here

    Question on cross loaded carabineers

If you cross load it past the cross load strength then you could compromise the longitudinal strength. If you stay below the cross load strength then your most likely good. Check for deformation, cracks, that the gate works properly, etc.

Ape Canyon 9.5 mm Ghillie Rope

FYI I posted on the JRB FB group and someone from Rock n Arbor responded if anyone wants to see there is a lot more info there.

Ape Canyon 9.5 mm Ghillie Rope

Anyone ever get any answers around the manufacturer/etc? I ordered some and it didn’t come with an instruction sheet or any other markings that indicate it’s certified to any safety standards. I submitted a question to RnR through their product page asking if it’s certified. Will see what they...

Safety input needed- routing secondary bridge behind back when using saddle in a stand

I agree with all of this. Running a secondary bridge behind your back is not the way saddles are designed to support weight and is not safe at all IMO due to the reasons you stated. When I’ve done my saddle in the stand I connect my tether and bridge like normal, facing the tree. Then spin and...

    Hi from southern WI

Thanks for the offer! I ended up going with a Latitude Classic and have been pretty happy so far.

    Sisal Baler Twine for Presets

Yeah I'm going to try rope climbing this year and am weighing my preset cord options. Paracord seems overkill, mason's twine seems better but is really stretchy (not sure if that's actually a problem) and in general leaving synthetic cords out in public woods doesn't sit great with me. Might try...
