    W.E. step with cam cleat

I'm not smart enough to figure that out. I've used these straps for rooftopping canoes, holding my frame to my raft and a host of other things. My saddle is also homemade. Been using this gear for years. The steps are Bullman. Each one has two screws in them which stick out a half inch...

    W.E. step with cam cleat

Here is my tried and true simple setup. Webbing, buckle and a hook so it is quick release. Zero stretch so it's even easy to set on a big tree. Also allows for easy minor tightening and loosening. I like the cam cleat idea. Interesting solution.

    Hello from Montana

Not a new member but it's been a long time since I've been on the site. Moved from Massachusetts almost three years ago. Hunting here, well, saddle mostly not needed. I have the privilege to hunt a friend's property and a tree is the only way to do it. So back in the saddle, so to speak! I...

Do you think it would work?

This is what I use for a platform to hunt with now. I use nothing else. Fits into my WE step bag.

Update on my steps and platform

Have no idea about the weight penalty. The whole setup is so light and compact that weight is just irrelevant to me. It is all about the ability to pack it small and ease of use for me. I use the swaider/knaider combo so all I require are three to four steps, which also includes the platform...

Update on my steps and platform

Still using four. Fourth one is in there. Platform was in position three because I was hunting a tree that would not let me get above 17 feet the other day :)

Update on my steps and platform

I know, right? I noticed it too when I watched the vid. Uggh. One inch cam buckle from strapworks with a one inch flat hook so you never have to thread the webbing. Here is a pic detailing it...

Update on my steps and platform

Hi all. Have not visited for a while. Tends to happen once you get things working almost perfectly for your needs. I have been running the webbing quick release set up now since last winter on my steps. Incredibly strong and quick little system. The ability to micro adjust the tension...

    Back to my crazy idea

Boy, good question. Need to think it through but maybe have the carabiner of the ropeman going through the same webbing/hook as in the pic above.

    Back to my crazy idea

Hi guys. Haven't been here for a while but the recent posts popped up in my email. I have not changed much with this system at this point. Unfortunately, or fortunately, this is competing with my knaider/swaider and WE steps with the straps and quick release (vs ropes). The latter is so...

    2020 Massachusetts Saddle Hunter Meetup

@SloMo I am also happy to do it elsewhere not on club grounds with a small handful of folks. I just don't want to bring attention to the club with a group of people. Personally, I have no issues interacting with others, but I can only speak for myself. Pete

    2020 Massachusetts Saddle Hunter Meetup

Sadly, I'm going to suggest we do not do it. The club is closed, other than the outdoor shooting ranges. I do not want to aggravate anybody by having more than a few people being near one another. With that said, I am happy to meet somewhere else with folks if they still want to get...

    2020 Massachusetts Saddle Hunter Meetup

Inside is shut down. Outside is open. Not sure what to do yet, will wait until the last minute.

    KNaider/SWaider with climbing sticks

I have done it to one of mine. Grinding it off works. Little less damage to soft trees.
