    Multi pin vs one pin

I’m considering the switch as well, I think I’ll prefer the site picture during 3D shoots, and for whitetail i don’t plan on anything outside of 25. I’ll set to 20 and never move. To plebe’s point, i still shoot relatively light/fast arrows. Any favorites that won’t completely break the bank...

    Tethrd-solid customer service

Never bought anything from tethrd, just a used Predator XL platform here on the forums i occasionally use on all day sits/cold. Last season, i bent the black standoff and bolt with an aggressive toe cam on a knotty tree. Completely my fault, was forcing it. Sent them an email Monday asking if...

    2tc vs one sticking

If I’m hunting a spot with sketchy leaning trees, big trees, or limby trees, onestick/ROS with rappel. If i‘m going to skinnier more uniform trees with 1 limb pass or less, 2TC with rappel and platform. If I’m scouting/hunting a new area, or wind is weird, or considering a ground hunt, then...

    2024 Off-Season Getting/Staying In Shape Motivation Thread

10 hours of yard work Sunday, road bike ride yesterday, early morning lift session today at the Y, tomorrow is an off day. Have been reasonably good with this 3 on/1 off cadence since December. I substituted digging a trench/lawn reseeding for my run on Sunday. The cadence is run/swim/bike...

Does anyone just use the ring of step?

You can use them alone, especially for 2TC, I like the bullmans. Last year i ended up mostly doing RDA one stick small platform, with 3-4 steps depending on the size of tree, and the predator XL just didn’t get employed much. I’m considering going back to the ratchet, since I’ve had trouble...

    Why don't yall 2TC?

Buy the footloop from CGM. It’s luxury, and allows you to “chill” without getting any foot cramps when you clumsily advance the main tether up the tree. this technique is great on skinny trees, and I’m going to try a fat/stiff tether on the bigger trees this off season. For now, I’m 1...

    8 or 9 mm ropes

Do the 9 mm and be in spec. You’ll be glad when you get rained on. Also, your rope will wear, and get caught on bark, CIV seems more rugged to me than the oplux, and easier to advance the tether due to stiffness. Sounds silly, but the extra mm makes me feel the rope will last a bit longer in...

How long to get out of the tree and walking back?

I’m 5-10 with a 1 stick. Important to have a routine, and look around every now and then if its the end of a morning sit at the base of the tree. I came down 2 weeks ago after a morning sit, and had i stuck to my routine, would have had a chance at a large buck that came from nowhere. I...

How many sits before giving up on an area?

I’ve stopped using cameras except for these situations. Leave a few (non-cell) cameras on the strongest sign, let them soak a week or 2. if they’re only passing through at night, you might want to move on.

carry as you go aiders that attach to the top of your sticks are dangerous

I started with a black diamond etrier that I’d hang on bottom 2 helium hawks. 3rd stick had an amsteel aider built in. (Bought them used that way). Had a close call like you, but somehow muscled out of it, made a ton of noise with the other sticks clanging, definitely ruined the morning hunt...

Do you wear your leg straps

I think with all the new hunters relying more and more on rope techniques/rappeling, good idea to use the leg straps.

    I love the saddle, but...

another vote for ROS, or add 2 “kickers” so you can go pigeon toed and straddle the tree With the platform, at 4 and 8 o clock. Looks a little weird straddling the tree, but i shift between lean, sit-knees on tree, sit-straddle, with about 70-80% of the time sitting. Like others said above...

    Dedicated platform vs on-stick platform

Running the RDA one stick with lookout bottom, crows nest top. I’ve only hunted 3 times with it, new to 1 stick, but love it. He has the option to build a 15” with XOP, I did that with the 3 step aider and could t be happier. If I need to be able to shoot 360 on larger trees, or sitting 2+...

2TC and 1 stick: best upper tether setup for smooth advance?

Fair point. These guys have done a nice job with SRT/DRT, and their videos are great. I use the gri gri with 9 mm CIV rope, so I’m good. I didn’t mean to sound negative, this actually looks like a nice overall kit. If i was just getting into rope climbing, It seems like a great kit to start...

Doyles Gear hoist worth the bulk?

I was in the market for one, and just got really fast at figure-8 ing my dynaglide, now there’s just not a need. The key is to make a “hang loose” symbol with your thumb and pinky, always clawing the thumb and pinky forward to get that 8. Then just fold over, slide in your front pant pocket...
