What pack do you use for whitetail meat hauling?

I started fieldquartering & packing out during the 1977 season with my 32nd deer kill. During the seasons since then I've packed out 356 deer with a surplus military, medium size, ALICE pack (as seen under my stand on my avatar picture). Of course I realize that some outstanding packs with all...

    I love the saddle, but...

This homemade tubular webbing helps, especially for smaller diameter trees.

That's good to know. Thank You, I appreciate your kind words.

I would believe that desirable areas for deer offer browse, feed trees, agriculture fields, creek crossings, Streamside Management Zones, transition areas, edge, cover for bedding, etc. Scouting reveals sign in the forms of ground disturbance under and around food sources as well as trails, in...

    The Piled-High Club

Don't expect too much success too soon. When I got started in the mid 1960's there wasn't much help in being able to educate yourself. In regards to bowhunting deer..... there were no videos/YouTube, no podcast, no TV Outdooor channel, no seminars, little to no reading material that went into...

No, the reason that I started saddle hunting was due to the safety factor. I was very satisfied with my way of hunting from an elevated position before I went to a saddle. But, I do find the saddle more comfortable with a lock-on when bowhunting and with a platform when gun hunting.

    1. 73 years old and 383 kills (6 years ago). 2. Enough to not be disappointed. 3. Age, physical health and the ability to do whatever it takes to put deer under you. The ageing process is the real killer.

What do you do with all those antlers...

Have a few in our house, metal building and back porch.

    Let's see them targets!

:) Yes, a lot easier. A big upgrade from those small bottles hanging from a string.

    Let's see them targets!

Over a decade ago, I was gifted with enough "heads" to set up an 80 target "non-typical" three D course for traditional bows. I've enjoyed sharing it with lot's of friends. This video is a short peek of the fun my guest and I have had. These targets have held up better than I could have imagined...

Hands down best huntin advice !!!!

The majority of my successful hunts were the results of daily in-season scouting (two too four hours each day) in large public areas.

Post your 15mins of fame here. Seriously!

During the summer of 1986 I had the opportunity for some one on one time with Mr. Fred Bear.

    Deer Hunting Stories

From: The Womack Journals Bowkill Deer #260 This was a late January, three day hunt, with my friend Murray Landry. The area that we will be hunting has rugged hills, deep gullies with a lot of finger ridges that drop down in to a couple of major drainages. I'm pretty familiar with the area...

    Deer Hunting Stories

I always felt the more difficult the hunt the more memorable it is. :)

    Deer Hunting Stories

These two stories, with pictures, is a perfect example on what it takes too not only honor the deer, but also never forget the details of an awesome hunt. With the passing of seasons, hunts like this will fade from memory if not recorded. I"m looking forward to reading more.
