    2tc vs one sticking

I don't use the tree for anything other than to put the ropes on. It's more a hindrance to me than a help. The foot loop is the thing that is supposed to be taking the weight. Not the tree. I turn my foot out away from the tree so it's not pushing my foot out of the foot loop.

    Fawns

I would assume a low doe to buck ratio would lead to more early breeding. If does have to get in line to be bred that's where you see bucks hanging onto antlers well into January and February

Just the front of the season, wouldn't really call it earlier breeding

How do you confirm a scrape is a community scrape?

I think you'll find that this pattern holds across nearly all animals that scent mark territory. The alpha male predominantly does all the markings. Sometimes the alpha female will remark on an existing mark. Rarely will beta males remark on an alpha mark . Betas or a new alpha in the area...

Speed scouting vs scouting thoroughly on new pieces? How to be more efficient?

Well noticed that SF does go down to 10 ft on contours. Compare and contrast topo vs lidar. Killed 2 bucks on the place over the last few years(first place I killed a public land deer)

    Kayak with troller

I have a behind the seat kayak mount from island hopper for my ascend fs128t. The opposite side of the trolling motor is counterweighted so that the you're not compromising stability. I think mine could be slightly heavier. I've had my kayak fishing on the lil bay de noc(lake Michigan) and have...

Speed scouting vs scouting thoroughly on new pieces? How to be more efficient?

The LIDAR is great for seeing elevation changes. Great for finding shelves , gaps between ridges, slight depressions. You can see some of that on topos depending on the scale of the map and how fine the steps are. On the apps, 20ft is the steps so you can lose a lot of topographical detail just...

Speed scouting vs scouting thoroughly on new pieces? How to be more efficient?

Speed scouting vs scouting thoroughly on new pieces? How to be more efficient?

Speed scouting vs scouting thoroughly on new pieces? How to be more efficient?

Most of it is experience really. Depending on the type of ground you have to hunt, you will really be able to eliminate a lot of walking. Especially if you have a lot of areas that will produce what I call wasted sign. Sure you can or have found sign in this spot on the property...but can...

    Filtering Waypoints by Date

Spartan forge makes it fairly easy to hide waypoints. Just deselect all the points from the prior year. Here's what it looks like . As you can see it lists the times the waypoints was created. No sorting unfortunately. Maybe you can do that from the website.

Fess up, who hasn't shot their bow since last season ended?

Shooting is a perishable skill...it's not that perishable though. I'm a crappy practice target shooter with pretty much anything. I just can't get into sniper mode with paper/blocks. If I shoot guns off-season, it's just to verify zero. I have actually shot both my bows in the last week or...

    Saddle Tree Setup Discussion

talking about bad winds... spot behind my house where I take one or two every year is a classic example of a "bad wind" setup. I have no way to hunt the place where I can get downwind of the deer. But...I have a spot where I can hunt parrellel to the wind so its not blowing into the approach of...

    Saddle Tree Setup Discussion

Years of using a gun and crossbow, I have a hard time making myself do this with a bow Some of it also is that I have spots where it's not possible to hunt when the deer are coming to you from the upwind side. Another thing for me is I like to have my easiest side to make shots through on my...

At what distance do your kill your deer?

30yd is the most distant I've taksn with a crossbow. Modern flat shooting bows an crossbows you can take the longer shots if you're dialed in and can see that far. Don't think I've even taken a shot at deer over 80 with a gun here

New rappel device for small rope?

Thanks was just going off memory. The Sterling F4 device can do 7.5mm to 8mm. I use it for SRT/2TC . It is is a bit more cumbersome to install/remove from the climb rope and doesn't move up the rope quite as easily compared to madrock or grigri .
