    Meat pack 3-day pack

all, hope the winters treated you well. I may be committing a saddle sin here as this will be in reference to a non-saddle hunt. I decided to try to challenge myself and get outside my comfort zone this year. I’m planning My first western hunt that will require packing out meat. I’m 2 months...

New Mathews Triax - Love it!

Congrats that’s a nice bow. I’d look at slick trick standard, shuttle t, g5 stryker. All very sharp and rugged out of the package. Montecs fly great but are not sharp and very difficult to get shaving sharp (bevel angle is 30deg) Muzzy 3 blade (original) is good as well and very affordable...

Diy camo climbing sticks & aiders

G2, awesome finished product! Did you ever think of trying the tree bark hydro dip? I’ve been debating it but that spray paint came out awesome and would be cheaper

    Scouting Notebook Suggestions

I use the attached. Some will recognize it from other uses. I always found them effective and instead of reinventing the wheel, I used what I was used to when I started really hunting again. I made blank copies on the power point and use colored pin needles for every hit I get on deer. I keep...

    Swamping for deer

The older deer will be in there if you look around. The attached is from a swamp edge from one of the more pressured areas I hunt. 5 land owners surround this public access swamp. All are too lazy to scout the thick stuff and would rather sit in easy access spots.

    Cold weather saddle hunting

Cut the foot off a sock and use as a compression sleeve. If still too bulky then get a multi section armguard to wear over that. Used this with my leafy wear and I worked great

    Treebolts revisited

I just picked up some bolts and am going to dip them tonight. Before I do, what’s everyone’s preference on depth into the tree? I see some saying 3 5/8. ANyone run anything different? What’s the ez kut depth? Thanks in advance!

G2Outdoors - Southern Illinois - live from the tree

I hunt pike co and the biggest deer I shot to date I had a similar thing in 15’. Gut shot a 140-140”. Passthrough. Watched him break away from doe. Stand still, lie down, get up and move to thick cover slowly. Called in a professional dog the next day. Nada. We checked everywhere. I still think...

    The week that wouldn’t give

first, this isn’t a complaint. Educational hopefully. First, Some background.... I missed my bumper crop of acorns. Got stuck at 29 stumps until the 21st. Missed most of bow season. Had to work last week and took this week off. Had a nice swamp buck patterned and a sick 8 at another location...

Enjoy October brothers. Some of us won't be

Back and got the next week off. Hope everyone’s having a killer season. Missed the oak drop but had 3 doe on the front lawn tonight and had a handful of dink bucks on cam. Looking promising. Cheers

    Aider/Loop attached to Rope Steps

So I had to do this pretty fast so the boy can get to practice. Aider wrapped around step as shown ensures aider isn't against tree and leaves gap. Rubberband girth hitched around solid ring on cranford step. Rubber band also serves to wrap up aider after and keeps step and aider in one package...

    Aider/Loop attached to Rope Steps

I run 2 aiders and 2 lw sticks. I use aider on a cranford from the ground and then once on the cranford I set my first stick. Once at the top of that stick I hang the next cranford as high as I can and put on the second aider. Repeat with second stick and then platform on top of the stick. Key...

Where do YOU aim on a deer?

Hoped this started a good educational thread if there's some youngsters like my boy out there and just to shy to ask. If this got posted on AT it'd be tits up and gone downward spiral by now. So I'm not the hold out/call out: I aim on the line of the back leg (far side) just on the inside...

Where do YOU aim on a deer?

my kid asked me this recently after graduating his archers safety course. i wanted to see what the opinions are. Give the why to the question as well. He's already got my answer. Loved to give him food for thought. Thanks in advance

    Green light headlamp

Cool looking little light. Price is nice too

    Green light headlamp

As shy as deer are I really don't think a red, green, blue light ect matters. I would worry more about casting too much light and movement of said light (i.e. Climbing up a tree with a headlight on). Deer have more rods than cones and see exceptionally better than humans in lower light. Much...

Beware super cheap products on EBay or Amazon

There's a lot of bs knock offs on E-Bay. VPA 3 blade, and Strickland Helix all have Chinese rip-offs on the good ol e-bay. I wouldn't trust them. My 2 cents. American Deer deserve American steel.

    Arrow spine and Weight

I'm assuming this new bow is an upgrade for you? With modern compounds I don't think you can be overspine but you can get into a danger area with underspine (add draw length or poundage). Plus all that tuning and sighting in has to be re-done. Best to get it right first. When in doubt go for...
