Anyone use John Eberharts scent control methods?

I’ve never taken it as far as John. I don’t shave my body hair and change my diet for deer season. I also believe a scentlok suit last me one to two seasons tops because I can’t get away with not washing mine in our southern temps. I can say I went a year or two without having a deer blow down...

    My challenge to you

I did it last year but blew all the saddle savings on a thermal scope. Didn’t get me any more days in the woods but maybe some nights

    2023 Contest Final Results

Thanks to @boyne bowhunter for not only keeping up with the score every year but for taking the time to count past wins. I don’t think I’ve ever killed the biggest buck on my team whether we won it or lost it. I’ve been lucky to draw out with some good hunters. While some of my teammates killed...

    Ball compass unreliability

10 years ago I was in Colorado in some thick stuff and had a compass lie to me. It was thick and there was a bunch of beetle kill so there was no just walking a straight line. Three times I walked up a hill got my bearings and took off in the direction I needed to go only to get a few hundred...

    I think I’m done rappelling - Rant/Question

I think it’s about like any system and once you commit to it you’ll find a way to make it work for you. Me personally I first started rappelling climbing with spurs. It only took me a couple times of fighting to get my rope out of the tree only to have it fall in a briar bush once loose to...

    DIY Spur Shin Cups

You can buy the pole gaffs for $80. I haven’t tried them but think I would like them better than the tree gaffs. I’m a big guy and was a little more worried about kick outs than stability.

What pack do you use for whitetail meat hauling?

I’ve got a badlands 2200 I used this year. I really need to spend some time carrying a loaded pack this year. I used to like carrying the 2200 but this year it wasn’t comfortable empty. With a deer in it it sucked. Probably more because I gained a bunch of weight and it’s hard to carry weight on...

Actual cost to run cell cameras

Where you put your camera matters as far as the package you need. I have cameras over corn that will take 250 pictures in one night. I have others over scrapes that average five a day. The camera matters also. I have Moultrie edges that take half as many photos as my tactacams. I never get...

Actual cost to run cell cameras

This isn’t the saddle support thread. LOL. Seriously me and my wife don’t have those conversations unless the savings account starts moving in the wrong direction. If things were where I had to choose between taking my wife to dinner or having a cell cam I wouldn’t be dealing with an angry...

    10mm Kills

I didn’t think I’d find a 10mm kill on my phone but I managed one. It was my profile on the Handgunhunt forum about two decades ago. It was a little Cumberland island buck. Shot it in the neck looking back at me at 45 yards after missing it with a scoped contender pistol in 30-30 at like 25...

    10mm Kills

Had a Glock 20 and killed a few critters with it. Exit wounds aren’t very reliable but that’s the case with many handgun/muzzleloader projectiles. There’s not many cartridges I think are much fun to practice with that are adequate for hunting but the 10mm is one of them.

Found a Summit climber for cheap, might use it actually.

I’ve got a 180 max. I climbed a lot of trees with it over the years but it hasn’t been used at all since I got serious about saddle hunting. The webbing on the seat is falling apart and while I’d like to replace it I’m afraid it’ll be dry rotted before it gets used again.

    Love Cold Weather Hunting

Wow. Sometimes I love late season. Last weekend I sat four hours in the rain in 65 degree temps debating whether or not to fire up the thermacell to combat the occasional mosquito.

@gcr0003 I’m not sure where you live but there should be a rut map of your area that is close. I’ve seen fawns and yearlings stay just far enough from the doe to not get caught up in all the chasing activity and be right back with mom in two to three days when the buck moves on. I’ve also seen...
