Do You Hunt on Windy Days?

Got my first buck on a windy day. It was too windy to be in a tree and i still hunted the property based on the wind direction. If it gets really windy, then I'll just go duck hunting.

    Ring of Steps Foot Placement

I got some last season. They're definitely more comfortable than the hawk aluminum steps I have (similar to the squirrel steps from EWO), but I did find the plastic a bit slicker and used vet tape to give them more grip against my boots. But doing that means I have to rewrap them as it wears...

    Rifle Hanging in the Saddle

Same here, the hero clip works great with my gun sling. Didnt like it for my bow, but the terhrd bow hook is amazing with the hys strap, one of my favorite purchases last season.

Is the idea of extra payments to your mortgage a placebo? Please educate me

I'm not 100% sure. I know for me as an employee, its free. But a quick google search says anywhere from $150 to $500.

Why don't yall 2TC? - ultralight rope technique

6'3" and 315 lbs. CGM footloop is the ticket. Tried with rope and a 1 inch tubular webbing step with rubber hosing. Granted the time in the loop is short, it still hurt.

"The Hunting Pressure": Something different. Definitely worth a look...

Oh yeah! What's funny is they slayed that monster while trying to be as obnoxious as possible. Damn near making beats with that buck grunt, and called one in. Great shot too!

Sold, they're goofballs and it is pretty funny. Definitely poking fun at a lot of the hunting media out there

    Expandable DIY Pack ideas

This is what I have. The day pack is nice too because it has it's own straps so you can use it without the frame if you want too. In warmer weather, I'll go with just the day pack if I'm not going too deep. When it gets a bit colder and I'll need a heavier coat or I'm going deeper, I'll throw it...

    Is one-sticking still a thing?

That's what I do too. SRT when it's applicable, 2tc the rest.

Why don't yall 2TC? - ultralight rope technique

At this point reading all of this is like a rite of passage into the world of 2TC. Heck, I think I've read this entire thread a couple of times looking for specific info I remembered being shared.

Green Light for walk in/set up

Walking out earlier in the season using white light, I heard some shuffling to my right when I stopped to check the direction I needed to go. I turned and looked to see what was making the noise and 5 pairs of eyes glowed back at me. They only took off once I asked "What are you looking at?" I...

Times you had to instantly rappel?

I was in my yard doing a practice climb and sit before season. I had been sitting for about 20 minutes when there was this howling and a huge gust of wind. Then I heard the thunder. I rappelled down and left my rope in the tree. I only had to go 50-75 yards, but by the time I got back to my...

Why don't yall 2TC? - ultralight rope technique

I've been toying with the idea of some kind of stiffener sheath for the rope. Maybe some tubular webbing with a wire or something sewn in that I could just slide over my tether, or some rubber hose. I like the idea @Samcirrus has been tinkering with, but I personally don't want to insert...

    I love the saddle, but...

Another option I've used with my platform, and saw on here somewhere at one point, is 2 steps at knee height on both sides of the tree. Sitting, you rest your knees against the tree and the steps and its actually pretty comfortable with knee pads. The arsenal slingr looks interesting, but I've...

How long to get out of the tree and walking back?

I chosen5 to 10, but never timed. I have my pack ready to go once it starts getting close to the end of shooting light, or if I know it's getting too dark to shoot accurately even if I have time left. Once I've made that call, weapon gets unloaded and goes down, pack on my back, rappel down to...

    The Official Ground Hunting Thread

Great write up! I also debate towards the end of the day if I want to do the work that comes after a shot, but in the dark. More times than not, I'd pass too.
