    New Varmint Killing Machine

I'm having a banner year for whistle pigs! This is #6 and #7 for the Savage 22-250. This is #23 for the M&P Sport 15-22, which makes 30 groundhogs for the year.

What Broadhead are you Using this Season?

I've shot with Roger and his son, Ron at a 3D shoot in Upper Sandusky, many years ago. The Rothhaar Snuffers are a great broadhead, but about the time I thought I'd use one, someone would tell me a hunting situation where they had a bad experience with it. So, I've never tried them...

    PA Finally Gets Sunday Hunting

Congratulations to my neighbors to the east! I've never hunted PA, but I'm glad to hear Sunday hunting is getting approved.

What Broadhead are you Using this Season?

@BLR1970 I shot my first Steel Force 175 gr. on a doe, just 2 years ago and she dropped in sight too. :) Good to hear more success stories with this broadhead!

What Broadhead are you Using this Season?

3 Rivers Archery has a sale going on and I figured it better to order now, before the "pre-season" rush. Steel Force 4-blade in a 3-pack for $19.99. :) They're offered in 130 grains with an aluminum ferrule or 200 grains with a steel ferrule. I ordered 4 packages of the 200 gr. steel ferrules...

Put up my new stand today

While the seat looks comfy, there doesn't appear to be a lot of foot room. ;)

    Larger peep sight option

I've tried using a peep sight and they're just not for me. I use a kisser button, at the corner of my mouth and align the string blur with the left side edge of the pin guard, for my lefts/rights. So, I'm actually looking on the right side of the string. As long as the string blur is touching...

    Call your Shot for 2025.

I waited on a "nice" buck, something with antlers out past his ears. Saw a couple, but nothing that was "nice" and so I was too picky. Now, I get to look into an empty freezer all year long. This year, no mature animal will get a free pass! I intend to kill everything that gets...

    Wrap Or Not To Wrap?

I had to wrap my Hawk Helium platform, because it was slicker than snot and was useless without it. I never used it again, after purchasing a Trophyline Mission platform. There's plenty of texturing on the Mission, therefore no need for a paracord wrap. Plus, back a few years ago...

Mad Rock Issue on New Rope

@crucible7 I was using a Madrock, last year, with 9mm Canyon Elite C-IV and notice it started slipping while leaning on the platform. o_O It would only slip about 3 or 4 inches, which is enough to activate the "pucker factor". Plus, I don't want it slipping when I'm leaning out to take a shot...

    Stumpin channel

I know what you mean and I can't say it "kicks up", but I've never lost an arrow, while using these small game tips. :)

    Stumpin channel

Naa... I'd rather be more selective of my targets. ;) I agree with the unknown yardage estimation for good real time practice. These Forge Converta Blunts are as tough as they come. A great way to match the small game blunt to the field point that the bow has been tuned with for target...

    Stumpin channel

I'll use a small game blunt on leaves or other such items. :) However, the actual stumps are hard on arrows and all of their components. o_O

    2025 Early Velvet Bucks

There are 6 bucks in velvet, west of my house, out in the bean field. Two of them are absolute monsters with potential for 2 more months of growth. 80 yards from my house.

    New Varmint Killing Machine

This M&P Sport has been my "workhorse" for groundhogs, this year. I switched from the HoloSun red dot to a Sig Sauer 4-12x50 Whiskey 3 scope, for more precision shots. This scope has a tiny red dog in the crosshairs too. I've killed 24 g-hogs, so far and 19 of them have been with the M&P...

    Platform vs ROS

Both or either. I can sit down in my saddle, put my feet in the Open Shot stirrups, tip it down and rappel down with it on my feet. :) ....or, if I'm returning to that location, I just move the Maverick Hitch off to the side of the platform and rappel down. When I return, I climb the rope using...

    Platform vs ROS

I use a Trophyline Mission or a Summit Open Shot (platform only), both of which are very comfortable with plenty of foot room and mobility around the tree. I would never consider R.O.S., due to the lack of foot comfort. :(

    Compound self sufficiency...thoughts?

@NMSbowhunter I'm in total agreement with you on the self sufficiency. While on a road trip in the eastern part of my state, I ran into a bow shop that was nothing but crossbows. Great area, but not so much for an archery pro shop. Good luck in your search to find a competent pro...

How Much Weight Are You Carrying?

@1canvas So, would you say that your issue is more carrying the gear in vs. the type of stand/saddle from which you're hunting? If it's just a matter of packing/carrying the gear in and out, perhaps putting everything on a deer cart, could be an option. ;) I had a property that required a 900...

    Compound self sufficiency...thoughts?

I would rather find a new pro shop, despite the drive and gas money. :) I prefer someone that's trained and has the equipment to work on my bow. I say these things because I have so very seldom needed any repairs and/or adjustments, that it would be far more beneficial both financially and...
