    Ridgerunner vs Blackbird

I have actually gone "backwards" and pretty much exclusively use a non-asymmetric hammock: Warbonnet Traveler. I like that it is can be used with either a fully-enveloping winter sock or bug net depending on need and it is still lighter than the others. The winter sock is just awesome.

How many use tarps instead of tents?

I use a flat tarp for both hammock and ground camping. I don't think I would ever use tents again.

Hanging from GriGri instead of Ropeman?

I hear ya on this. Don't forget though that the Petzl I'd is a totally locking design and has an "anti panic lock" which are teeth that bite into the rope. It doesn't matter where the tail end of the rope is placed. The position of the tail end is only important in "belay mode".

XOP Hand Climber Seat foot straps

The bungee is just there so that the whole platform does not slip and fall down the trunk if I accidentally lift or knock it via the foot straps. I saw somebody else doing it on the web (don't remember who/where) and I just copied because it made sense when I was up in the tree.

Hanging from GriGri instead of Ropeman?

I bit the bullet and just use a Petzl I'd :) I love that there is less stuff/pieces to deal with

XOP Hand Climber Seat foot straps

So true. This is what I do also. My main tether to the tree runs all the way to the ground as my rappel line anyway (and safety descent if my platform gives way). When up in the tree, the line is just loosely coiled on the platform.

    Rappelling video

It's also easier to just rappel down if you climbed up using a seat-climber or a single stick method.

    Squirrels!!!!

Slingshots! I have been playing and practicing with them a lot lately. They are complimentary to bow hunting muscles conditioning. Once you look into them... it's a rabbit hole :)

    Dumped Deer...

I bet it was poachers. They gutted them but then they got spooked and scrammed.

    XOP packer platform concept

I luvs this :) I guess just build it and see if it work with the side loading, eh?

    Ascending with a Grigri

I do but only for self rescue or short management climbs - not ascending bia rope only.

XOP Climber seat as climber and platform?

Yes, there is some accessory cord that ties it around the tree. It is kinda hard to see because the cord is green. There is a better pic on post #11 of the first page of this thread.

XOP Climber seat as climber and platform?

My LW seat/climber/platform is 4.4 lbs with my rope stirups and bungee.

    Lone wolf assassin

LW climber/seat/platform + saddle and no bow --> very light and mobile :) My rope tether is behind me attached to a butt back.

    Ascending with a Grigri

Here ya go: I personally use the Petzl I'D with a footloop+Ropeman attached to my tether above the Petzl. This really works for me and makes ascending trivial.
