    Kestrel Discomfort

I spoke with New Tribe. As others have experienced and commented, they are a great company and very easy to work with. I am exchanging my size 1 for a size 2 and hopefully everything works out. The extra material where the loops are attached is right on my hip and I think that is causing the...

    Kestrel Discomfort

I am 6'2" - 210 lbs. 32 pants I can see how it may be too small BUT I called NewTribe before I ordered to get the correct size. This thing makes hunting a pain. Im ready to move on for next season. What are my other options? I know guidos web is going out of business. What are the...

    Kestrel Discomfort

OK so I just cannot get comfortable in the kestrel. Major hip pinch! Ive tried everything: Bridge length- long and short. I even bought a Petzl adjustable bridge to try and find the sweet spot. No such luck Tree tether height- High and eye level. I also have a ropeman on the tree tether...

    Kestrel hip pinch

Ok this certainly could be my issue. I am climbing via SRT. The kestrel rides up my waist during the ascent. I guess I need to try and find a way to readjust the saddle lower after I ascend.

    Kestrel hip pinch

It seems most people think the hip pinch could be because the saddle is worn too high on the waist. So where is the front waist buckle supposed to be? Should it be where you buckle a normal belt or below that? How tight should the two leg straps be?

    Kestrel hip pinch

‘I don't know guys. I tried all that stuff in the tree. I was messing with it more than watching for deer lol. I adjusted bridge length 3 or 4 times slid the tether up and down. Pulled it up then down again. Im actually still sore.” Ditto. That’s exactly how I feel. This is my first experience...

Thats exactly how I describe it.

    Kestrel hip pinch

The only way Ive found to make it comfortable is to stand completely on a platform which is unfortunate because you are standing the entire time.

    Kestrel hip pinch

I experience the exact same hip pinch in my kestrel. Ive tried longer bridge, shorter bridge......still uncomfortable. Im a 34 waist and I also have a size 1 saddle. I love the idea of saddle hunting and Im committed to the process but Im certainly not comfortable in the kestrel. I literally...

    Methods to the madness

I asked the same questions as you a couple months ago as I was getting setup with SRT for the first time. 1) check out this rope. https://rwrope.com/climbing-gear/sterling-htp-static-7-16/ It is great and comes in hunting colors- Black and Olive Drab. I got 150 feet of black and then cut a...

Reasons I gave it up the first time

What are the advantages of climbing spikes over SRT? The one obvious example I can think of is you can access almost any tree with spikes. With SRT you are limited to trees with a branch for the canopy cinch. I am curious to hear from people who use both climbing methods.

Reasons I gave it up the first time

This is my first year in the saddle. The majority of the past 10 years of hunting have been from a summit viper climbing stand. I completely fell in love with SRT as my climbing method. It is so easy, quick and safe. I am always attached to the rope! I narrowed it down to SRT or Spikes...

    SRT Guys?

So when you climb SRT and reach your destination what do you do with your climbing rope after you attach the tree strap? Do you completely de-rig your climbing system or stay hooked in as a backup? Do you just let your climbing rope dangle all the way to the ground? I am currently leaving...

    Kestrel comfort

I am defiantly more sitting than leaning. I am still tuning my setup. So are most people standing / leaning as opposed to a sit? The reason I was more inclined to sit vs stand is because I usually stay in the tree all day long.

    Kestrel comfort

Ok so you guys who have received / hunted out of a kestrel....can you actually get 360 degrees of shot freedom? I am having difficulty drawing my bow without the bridge interfering. Pretend you are facing the tree and you need to shoot to your 9 o'clock position. My bow string hits the...

    Kestrel comfort

Ok I am just thinking about how I would lengthen the tether with a ropeman while my weight or partial weight was on the tether.

    Kestrel comfort

Ok I just ordered a pair of the ropeman 1. I am using 4 screw in steps for a platform. Can you adjust the ropeman 1 while the rope is under tension....to lengthen the tether? I am assuming it must be almost under no load with a slack line to release it.
