What Rope to use for a Tether?

Yes, you can girth hitch a tight eye, and I imagine some people would prefer that method of attachment since it eliminates a piece of hardware. For myself, I just use a compact carabiner.

What Rope to use for a Tether?

I still struggle to splice dyneema. So, when the time came for a linesman belt and tether, I ordered 20' of Samson Predator from Wesspur. Similar to Rico, above, I had them splice a tight eye on one end, and a five inch eye on the other. I then cut this line exactly in half. I slipped a Petzl...

You can buy these from Walmart, but you still have to order online, I believe.

Yep, the swamps are the only way to get away from the crowds when you live near the cities.

Will do; I'm excited to get out and practice. I was up in Carlos Avery last night, scouting a trail back into an island swamp where I doubt many will want to access, seeing how many miles of sweat equity are required.

I purchased May 29th: What's odd is I never received a shipping confirmation. I was bummed about that, so I went to check status on my tracking number this morning and received this shocker.

LOL. As I recently posted on another thread, you can never have too many ways to hoist your rump up a tree.

How to climb HUGE trees with many limbs

I believe the industry acronym has changed from SRT (single rope technique) to SRS (single rope system). Nevertheless, the attached pdf from Wesspur will probably provide more info on the technique than you thought you ever wanted to know.

    KNaider/SWaider with climbing sticks

Thanks for the video, Noxninja. I'm so impressed that I want to add this method to my arsenal. A saddle hunter can't have too many ways to hoist his rump up a tree.

Maybe they're shipping in reverse alphabetical order, so Zeke and Zed will be getting theirs first.

    Climbing spurs

Wesspur gives you the option to select either tree gaffs or pole gaffs from the get go: This screen shot was for bare spurs without pads, but all of their pad option selections are identical.

    KNaider/SWaider with climbing sticks

I find this intriguing, but I can't, for the life of me, envision the transition as the aider is moved up the tree. Obviously, your body weight is supported by the tethered harness, but how do you position yourself to disengage the aider and then move it far enough above to be able to step again?
