    Saddle hunters support thread.

A couple years ago I sold my OG kestrel and gave away my treesuit platform after 2 or 3 years of using them exclusive. After a couple years with a mobile stand, I purchased a platform today and am waiting on spring sales for the saddle…

    2024 Ground Breaking New Platform...

I had the original re-release from treehopper without the ridges. I got rid of the squeak with gutter screws, so the heads of the screws contacted the tree. After doing that I was a big fan of it

What is killing the pine trees

Be mindful of how you approach those- they say cutting them will make the problem worse and you need to hack and squirt or basal spray to kill them first.

just curious if you ever gave the Moab 10 a go? Also, is it possible to switch which shoulder it goes over?

Worst thing you’ve forgot to take into the field?

I went out once with my dad after school as a teenager and forgot boots to change into. He let me use his while he went out in his white sneakers. That sure made him easy to spot from a couple hundred yards away.

    Evolution of the ultralight stands

I largely agree with this. I wouldn’t say a stand is more comfortable, but being concealed from behind is pretty much the sole reason I got a helo and sold my saddle. I couldn’t get over that the area I couldn’t see was also where I was most exposed.

    WTB: hush treestand

Was hoping OOAL would do a Labor Day sale but since not I figured it’s worth seeing if anyone has a Hush stand they want to part with?

Falling with slack in your line

That’s not a fair critique. There’s a significant distinction between “safe” and “less risky.”

Falling with slack in your line

Two different, independent questions then: 1. Would you personally hunt out of a treestand using a tma-certified harness? 2. Would you personally hunt out of a treestand using a rock harness in any scenario?

Falling with slack in your line

All other things being equal, in your opinion, would the risk in the usage I described (as a fall arrest for rch) be generally worse than, equal to, or greater than the risk in using a tma certified 5-point harness?

Falling with slack in your line

If I were to use this (please note that as the reason I posted the question), it would be the sole connection between my rch and the tree strap. I’m basically looking for a suitable fall-arrest solution if I were to use a rock harness in a treestand. The alternative would be a 5-point safety...
