Can we start a communal turkey feathers collection/market thread?

Keep me posted. My first mount was home-made, with the neck, back skin and fan separated from the wings .... and then all the pieces parts tacked to the wall paneling so it looked like one spread. It's awesome, in a 1970s kinda way, but sooner or later I will have to part with it, since I...

Hind sight question for cross eye dominance

Red dots for bows come and go. The lone survivor at this point is the descendant of some old stock, I believe, lol ... The Garmin is interesting in a few ways, especially if you hate pins, but I don't call it a red dot. Unaware if there is more than one company marketing a red dot archery...

Private pre sets option ideas. Looking for ideas or suggestions.

There were no other options for climbers at the time. It's possible someone was making something out of his garage to sell to the guys at church, but the Baker was the first and only ride up (and down!) the tree for sale to the public for a while.

Hind sight question for cross eye dominance

This sometimes works, so don't rule it out. It may be a matter of training your eyes//brain and some magic. I can do it with a bow much better than with a pistol. Wouldn't even try it with a shotgun or open-sight rifle, partly because I don't care enough about those to do enough of a trial to...

Private pre sets option ideas. Looking for ideas or suggestions.

Either you had been a very, very, VERY bad boy, or he was just curious whether you'd survive .... LOL Those Bakers were a test of character ... Mine was stolen off the base of a tree, and you have no idea the pleasant daydreams I've had for decades of the thief in his "Oh, ****!" moment ...

Second/alternate uses for your hunting gears

Most of the new Cabela's and Bass Pro stuff these days is good for gardening and changing the oil in your truck.

    Scrape soil, does it matter?

An area that floods/has flooded doesn't provide the cover or browse that an area above the flood line does. There's no doubt that some types of soil hold scent and some just leach them, but scrape lines have more to do with travel patterns than soil types.

    Southeast Velvet Hunts

SC is location-specific even for early bow hunting . Whatever you determine, I suggest you keep it to yourself.

What treestand is this and is it worth fixing

Could be a Loggy but I doubt it. Cable attachments on top of the platform are a clue one way or another. Would like to see the tree attachment points as well. API mostly made crap, even before BPS came along. It took Loggy a long while and at least one change of ownership to start making...

    Mock scrapes on public

I invite anyone out there to hunt public land quality bucks in the Carolinas and get back to me on this point. You are making a serious mistake if you think either the deer or the deer hunters are not sharp as a razor here.

    Mock scrapes on public

Make your mock scrapes where you want to concentrate your hunting competition and then move on to the escape areas your competition will influence. If you can access an area no one else will get to, and if you REALY want to mess with mock scrapes, make your "real" mock scrapes there. First...

    What's everyone reading?

Just finished I Was Reading A Book, Texting, and Checking the Forums & Social Media In My Stand, And Guess What? --I Missed The Total Point Of Being Out There Completely .... Great read, but best in the bathroom or the LazyBoy ... However, if you'd like a copy, be sure to smash the...

How-to? Good luck. Most people don't like to get wet. Including writers. "Race at Morning" ...Story, not a book. Big Woods... William Faulkner https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12283078-big-woods

    Field and stream purchase

I like a fair amount of EC's stuff, especially the early work. (Wallen hurts my ears, and the whole idea of music.) But this pair of posers isn't going to save F&S. Print is dead, and digital relies too much on clickbait for a serious hunter or angler to luv the major commercial media outlets...

    Field and stream purchase

The good news is that there article indicated that there will be lots of merch ... But I'm expecting you can't bow the ball caps down, and you're stuck with flat brims ... Bro! (Brah?) So that's a hard pass for me ...
