That’s a great idea. I have a bunch of extra webbing. I’ll try that out. Thanks.

    Platform carrying ideas

Any chance you could elaborate on this? I’m trying to figure out a better way to getting the Mission from the base of the tree to hunting height. I don’t like the extra weight on my saddle either.

    LWCG Ambush weight?

Nutter, how are you carrying the Mission walking in and up the tree? I had mine attached to a Kuiu pack and then connected it to my saddle via a piece of paracord and a carabiner on my aero Hunter this season. I recently ordered some pack straps from tactical tailor and a zippered pouch for my...

    Trophyline mission platform

I’d also like to know how people are planning on packing this in. I considered using some surplus ALICE pack straps I have and using it as a frame pack with my jacket bungee’d to the back. I’m concerned with the center bump out that looks like it could make it fairly uncomfortable to carry in...

    Using a black backpack?

Another vote for spray paint if you’re concerned. Personally, I wouldn’t worry about it and agree with just sitting still. We did the same thing when I was overseas though, light brown and green spray paint and a mesh laundry bag to add a “snake skin” pattern worked very well for our scout snipers.

    Saddle hunting cold weather

So where are you passing the saddle through. I have a Kestrel and had a pair of Carhartt bibs when I was younger. I’m trying to picture where the saddle comes through. I’ve considered puffy pants from Sitka or Kuiu layered over my Smartwool merino 250 base and Simms wader liners, but as I’m sure...

    Saddle hunting cold weather

What exactly are you using for Bibs? I recently sold my Stratus bibs because I didn’t think they added enough warm to beat out my Carhartt pants and base layers. I’ve considered getting Carhartt bibs which seems to be what you may have done? The Stratus and Fanatic bibs just picked up too many...

"The official saddle hunting backpack thread"

I actually don’t use mine for hunting very often. I’m in upstate NY and our season sees some pretty cold temperatures for the most part so I am typically packing in my layers and adding them at the base of the tree. That kind of forces me into a larger pack. I currently use a Kuiu Venture 2500...

I have had one for a while. I love mine. It is built solid. First spear produces them for HPG. They are absolutely top notch. The yoke is very comfortable. Pack itself it extremely minimalist but that’s pretty much exactly what I’m looking for. What specifically are you interested in?

    Durable dump pouch?

You can also grab one from Tacticaltailor.com I used one of their fightlight series pouches in Afghanistan and it is still in great shape after some hard use.

    KISS hunting bow

I don’t know much about the IQ sight myself. Is the idea that the sight itself shows alignment thus eliminating the need for a peep?

    KISS hunting bow

I can certainly see the thought process behind that. I think that’s the real allure for me. Certainly not increased lethality lol. What distances are you willing to shoot and animal at and are there any special considerations shooting from a saddle with a trad bow?

When you say medium ranges, what ranges specifically are you talking about?

    KISS hunting bow

I should add that for now, I’m struggling enough with a new baby to just locate mature bucks let alone make shooting them with a bow any harder. That may be an endeavor for when I’m retired!

    KISS hunting bow

How did you feel about removing the peep? I’ve been strongly considering it after watching @Nutterbuster video. Most, if not all of my shots seem to come with limited light. I think keeping my shots in the 0-35 yard range with a single pin and no peep might be the ticket. I also have a strong...

    KISS hunting bow

My bow hunting packs (Kuiu Venture 2300, and Hill People Gear Tarahumara) both have water bottle holders on the side. I just stick the quiver upside down in one of the pouches after I’m at hunting height.

    KISS hunting bow

I’ve been slowly refining my bows to increase lethality. Saddle hunters by their very nature seem to be an independent thinking bunch. I’m curious what others on this site are using as their go to hunting rigs. Mine have got more simple over the years. @Nutterbuster “Everyman bow” rig video is...

    New bow sight

I have two Spot Hogg grinders. I removed the top and bottom pins off one of them so it it now a fixed single pin sight. The bow is set at 27 yards and allows me to shoot from 0-35 yards without having to make any holdovers. I’m strongly considering doing the same thing to my newer style Grinder...

Easiest method for screw in steps?

Mine was awesome (until I managed to lose it). I got the Muddy version the other day. We’ll see how it works.
