    Rappel rope question

Aluminum carabiner user myself with absolutely zero worry it will ever fail by being side loaded or for any other reason. Simple, compact, quick and easy.

    Wild Edge Jack

Tell me of another optional seat that weighs 1.5#. It’s a brilliant idea that provides another option. Shallow thinkers never accomplish much and rag on those that do.

    Wild Edge Jack

Because I can take it if I want or leave it in the truck. Sometimes I hunt off a stick, sometimes off a platform, sometimes this seat would be nice, and sometimes I crawl into a big ol steel hangon. I prepped a tree the other day where I plant to stand on a limb. Options are nice. Can you offset...

    Thanks for that. It worked

    Wild Edge Jack

Well trying to post pictures here is harder than anywhere else. They are all too big and Tapatalk constantly “runs into errors” but I made a 3/4 pine version that works really nice. I’ll refine them and have them available for $149.95 and free shipping. Weighs about 6 oz.

    Wild Edge Jack

I have a dozen Stepps that I never use. Always think I will, but never do. I might need to look back at the old plywood platforms guys made in the past and see about making a narrow seat like this. No way on God's green earth would I pay $200 for that thing when $4 worth of cabinet grade plywood...

    DIY mobile aider

Electrical tape gets super brittle in cold temps. Hockey tape is a much better solution for grip. Even better than pvc pipe would be a piece of heavy rope taped up with the nylon to give the stirrup some shape. I used tubular webbing, took a piece of rope and taped a section of heavy duty zip...

any new, super light platforms big enough to stand and turn on?

I had the Fix and the Ambush side by side on multiple trees one year to see if the weight savings was worth the loss of real estate. If standing up and turning is important to you, like it is to me, go with a larger platform and forget about the extra ounces.

Why don't yall 2TC? - ultralight rope technique

I'd like to see you do a video on 2TC. You have a good way of explaining things in a simplified way.

Your platform of 24' and why

That would be punctuation, not grammar. :smirk: I still have and prefer my original Ambush platform for the extra room. Standing up straight and turning on the platform is a big deal for me. Very easy to hang and the little bit of flex doesn't bother me at all once you get used to it.

Your platform of 24' and why

With the apostrophe in the wrong location, I read this as a 24' platform. Only Eberhart hunts 24 feet high.

    Linemans rope safety

I'm not sure Cantilevered is the right word? Not sure what the correct word is either, but that's not what I understand as cantilevered (supported on one end only)

Thoughts on Broadside Stands climbing platform???

I think Rube Goldberg helped design that thing.

The best (and cheapest) Saddle backpack

I just got this one the other day. I wanted something with a rigid frame so the pack didn't sag off my shoulders. I can't believe the detail and construction that went into this pack for the money. $10 coupon clip too. Supposed to be waterproof plus a rain fly...

    2 step aiders?

Go with a 3 step aider. The distance you space them is a function of your body size anyway, and a 3 step 15" aider would be perfect for you. You'll be able to have the top of your first stick around 7.5' high from the ground. If using multiple sticks you'll easily get 6.5-7' for each additional...

    No prusik tender

When he actually gets some weight on that tether he'll change his tune about how well that prussik tends with a carabiner.

    ROS plus Platform?

This is how I like them too on a separate strap. I've had my platform loosen up if I stepped on the backside step when on the same strap. With the ambush though I honestly don't use them that often because it's large enough to maneuver and shoot in any direction on its own.

    Cam cleat?

I drilled mine straight through several years ago, between the cam cleat bolts. I used an 8mm rope. I like to be able to see the knot and the ability to pull it through to check for wear. It's just good for peace of mind, but honestly I've not had any rope wear from the tube at all.

Best Place To Order Grade 8 6” Bolts

Tractor supply used to be a cheap place to buy hardware by the pound. They have gotten just as expensive as small hardware stores anymore. 3-4X what you'll pay online.
