    Hi John. 1) When I get to hunting height can I use either the saddle hunter hitch or the buffalo hitch as a tether line? Or do I need to use the JRB hitch? 2) Is there a way to climb without swing to the leaning side of the tree?

    Great job!! Just to answer, "elastic ankles/cuffs", I mentioned them only because I find I wear all my heavy cold weather pants/bib outside the boots. It may be psychological, but I "feel" like the eclastic bottoms help block out the cold. And it helps keep crap (twigs, snow, etc) from coming...

    Carabiner at top of tether rope

    You may already know this. But, you need to check the rating of the lineman's rope; to make sure it will hold your weight. And I believe you need a static (no stretch) rope. IMO, there shouldn't be any "issue" if the rope is rated appropriately. BTW, I use a 10mm climbing rope as a tether.
