Easiest method for screw in steps?

For what it’s worth, I put bolts in during spring scouting, leaving out the bottom 5 or so. It’s easy to go back and reopen the holes as I hunt the trees at the first of the season with a woodpecker drill. They’re much cheaper than screw ins, although I have a set of cranfords that I use often...

    Kifaru Noob Questions

I’m 6’1” 250. I’ve packed a couple dozen boned out deer with or without camp included varying distances from 1-5 miles in rough hills, on and off trail. The frame height is the best and worst thing about it. The lift makes the load suck less, but the frame snags in thick brush. I can deal with...

    Almost a tether mishap

Correct regarding failure. Rope around thetree is only lighter and/or faster if the tree isn't preset. If you have screws preset, there's no contest. Way faster to climb, drape, and clip. I'm sure expansion bolts could be used. Never thought about it. However, by the time you place...

    Almost a tether mishap

Those were just pics I pulled off of the forum. I don't know whose they were, but I assumed they were being used for demonstration. That tree is a Darwin Award waiting to happen.

    Almost a tether mishap

Yeah, I don’t have a problem with girth hitching at all. Bulk was my issue. I pack in for several days at a time and space can be an issue.

    Almost a tether mishap

I use the steps and the off side is screwed in normally, the top one upside down. The tether is between the vertical part of the step and the tree. I leave just barely enough room to slide the tether into place.

    Almost a tether mishap

I’ll take a pic and post it here. If I can figure out how to post a pic, that is!

    Almost a tether mishap

Probably so. It’s been a long time since I looked.

    Almost a tether mishap

Probably the most concerning part of it was that I paid attention as I was putting the screws in, and really thought they were solid. Someone may know better than me, but my guess is that the tree was big enough that perhaps the soft layers were thicker. Nothing about the tree suggested to me...

    Almost a tether mishap

I've been hunting out of a saddle for 4 or 5 years, and like most of yall I'm always looking for a way to simplify and drop some weight at the same time. In my efforts to do that, I started using a daisy chain looped over two screw in steps (I think I stole this from Eberhart). I love the...

    Bar none best method

So I'm interested in some opinions. For background, I have lone wolf sticks, preset bolts, cranford screw ins. What I'm wanting is the skinny on what yall have found to be the best combination of quick, compact, light, and easy, to get up a tree as high as 30'. This is a big piece of...

    Kite/Flex Pics Please

I'll be packing in for several nights. Hence the reason the bulk is a concern. Otherwise, yessir, wearing it is definitely the way to go.

    Kite/Flex Pics Please

I'm thinking about both models. I have a Kestrel size 2 that works great, so I'm contemplating a kite or a flex. My main issue is bulk in my pack, so I'm curious what the size difference is when they're folded or rolled. Any of you guys have pics of them rolled up next to something for...

    Kifaru vs Hill People gear

I have been using a MR Longbow, a Kifaru BT1, and a Kifaru X-ray for hunting whitetails for 7 or 8 years. My favorite for day hunting is the Xray, but it has no real meat hauling capacity. You can haul a boned out whitetail, but it'll beat you to death. That pop up 28 looks like the best mix...
