How many times did you punch yourself

I'd put the release on a loop of paracord you're standing on and pull harder than your bow's max poundage. With some triggers, if you set them too light or if they have a poundage and travel adjustment and one is off, then it will let go just from too much pressure. If you pull with all you...

How many times did you punch yourself

I punched myself once with a hinge, but never with a handheld with an actual thumb trigger. If you're punching yourself with a thumb release, then there's something wrong with the release or you need to keep you hand far away from the trigger. I never touch the thumb release trigger. Granted...

    Whats your preferred tuning method?

He's a beast if he can bareshaft tune at 40 yards. It is ultra sensitive to form, trigger control, and wind. For that reason, a lot of folks skip right to broadhead tuning.

    Whats your preferred tuning method?

The SET system doesn't allow as much adjustment as the Deadlock. I don't think you can shim the Deadlock, but it obviously has a lot of travel.

    Whats your preferred tuning method?

I'll caveat the cutting thing....the best way, I think, is spin each shaft and then cut from the wobbly side....but if they all spin well, then I do half off each end (the middle is usually the straightest and the straightness measure is the middle part and neglects the ends) if the off center...

    Whats your preferred tuning method?

I shoot bareshafts through paper at random distances (6 feet to 7 yards probably) and keep at it until the tear looks perfect. I then shoot fletched and bare shafts at 25 yards and get those flying together (but never shooting at the same dot as to avoid arrow damage). Then I tune fletched...

    Barnett brake action pistol crossbow

210 fps max with a tiny bolt....probably about as powerful as a 30 lbs longbow...it would kill but I'd want a razor sharp, double bevel, small cutting diameter 2 blade fixed head....and you better hit it perfectly....couldn't find the weight of the bolt anywhere......30 lbs longbow example is...

Anyone use John Eberharts scent control methods?

My point was "don't get lost in the scent game if you are lacking somewhere else". Scouting was just an example of something important plucked out of the air. I didn't infer that scent control guys are all lacking somewhere else.

Speed scouting vs scouting thoroughly on new pieces? How to be more efficient?

I start with e-scouting and select manageable chunks of land. I then do a quicker walk through of areas of interest from the digital scouting. I note areas of greater interest and either come back another day for them or going into greater detail that day. It's a lot like trying to find a...

Anyone use John Eberharts scent control methods?

I agree, but I'd add that it is best to do the biggest bang for the buck items first. Like don't overly focus on scent control to the point where something more important (like scouting) is neglected.

Favorite Hunting Clothing Brand (where you like the camo pattern)

I mix and match patterns all the time and if anything it probably breaks up your outline more.

Favorite Hunting Clothing Brand (where you like the camo pattern)

Regular outerwear (not rain wear or my down mid layers) is one place I save money. I pretty much only buy Midwayusa store brand (you can filter by brand there). It available in several camo patterns and is very good quality for the money, especially when it goes on sale. Cheaper lets me have...

The Effect of Dirt on Climbing Ropes

Thanks for the video. This is the same reason I cringe when you see parents let kids write in the dirt on cars. It's mostly little ground up rocks. Before and after season, I gently hand wash my gear and lay it flat to dry. PMI makes rope soap but before that I just used a small amount of...

At what distance do your kill your deer?

25 or 30 yards is the worst distance for a deer reaction because they are close enough to be jarred by the sound more but far enough away to move quite a bit before impact as far as what you wrote, it all comes down to your ability to read the situation a deer that is not especially alert and...

At what distance do your kill your deer?

Closest shot....1 yard....straight down shot....furthest is 40.....furthest I'd shoot is a touch over 40....this is with a compound Too close is bad....I usually want to be at least 10 yards away....I like 10 to 25 yards.

    Multi pin vs one pin

My favorite setup for shots 40 yards and in is a 2 pin fixed sight. I had Spot Hogg customize the pin setup (small fee) of a Grinder. The top pin is green and their largest pin size and it is in the horizontal position for the pins. The bottom pin is the next size down and red. It is in the...

    Saddle Tree Setup Discussion

actually, @Nutterbuster told me about a hat mirror, and I use it sometimes when I think I have a high chance of being snuck up on by a deer it's one that rowers use to look behind them, sounds goofy but it's cheap and works https://www.amazon.com/Coxmate-Sculler-Mirror-for-Rowing/dp/B01HMLF0PO...

Are some rubber boots better with ground scent?

Yeah, it's one of those things where it might help, but I don't want to deal with the hassle. Forget to change your boots out or can't one time, and you have to detail your car and scrub your home flooring for a few hours. I'll just be less successful. I had a bottle of "Antler Ice" buck pee...

    Chronographed, Real-World Bow Speed

My bow as configured shoots 265 fps (60 lbs, 30", 420 grain arrow, good bit of weight on string (big peep, kisser, soft nocks, d loop, 2 small cat whiskers)) That back calculates to 315 fps IBO The IBO spec is 330 fps on performance cam mode But I'm shooting comfort mode which subtracts...
