    tether use in pine trees

Up in the northwest, on the west slopes of the cascades, fir trees everywhere you look. Honestly I don't pay much attention to it, but I replace my main line every season.... Fir trees are a pain because of all the little limbs that have to get trimmed just to get up and that can make a real...

    Leaving your main line out?

That’s pretty much the same program I’m on @JoyRyd, but up in WA. Yeah elk won’t be the same as deer in this regard especially in the month of September, + our deer up here, blacktails, (Columbia not mulies) behave differently, and Mother Nature actively helps reduce or remove residual scent...

    Leaving your main line out?

I’ve always made a habit to take my climbing (srt) line out after almost every sit; maybe leaving it unattended for a couple hours at most to take a break, this year I’ve gotten in a new tree and am relatively confident that squirrels/chipmunks don’t make use of it; I’ve left it out overnight a...

    Sit Drag

See my other post in this forum from just a moment ago; I used the same sit drag for 3 seasons, zero issues and now I might be breaking it back out tomorrow

My comfort channel is making me uncomfortable (tethrd phantom)

Literally 25’ up a tree as I type this; yeah I failed to check my gear before climbing (more than once it seems....) that’s something I probably should fix more than anything. so I just got this saddle not long ago, brand new first owner, tonight is the 8th sit (fall bear is open in the NW) -...

    Anyone using a recon saddle?

MADHunts, what bags are those you have on that saddle?

    Talk me out of SRT

preset all the way! also SRT can give you a much quieter ascent over sticks & climbers. I would strongly caution against leaving your mainline in a tree overnight though. I had some 7mm utility line wrapped around for gear hangers - squirrels/chipmunks found it and had at it, not worth the risk...

Phantom for a dope on a rope....

Wirrex, I think that's what I'm sensing - being able to really cinch down above your hip bones; I've spent lots of time in a harness / swiss seat over the years, even before I took to the trees, this is just a little different - I must be getting older and new things are getting harder...

Phantom for a dope on a rope....

Hey all - quick question for any phantom users. How many of you SRT (or any other rope style ascent) are using a phantom as your harness? (I've seen a video or two of folks doing it - but not sure to what extent...). How comfortable are you making transitions of any type, in regards to being...

    Ozone and scentlok

ok, I know the thread is titled scentlok, but I'm one of the guys doing "carbon dipping". So just to confirm what I think I read: Ozone does in fact alter the effectiveness of carbon, but that effect is not significant until the garments are ozone treated several times? In my case a simple...

    newbie

well new'ish, I've actually been lurking for a while; I'm up here in the great northwest - I tend to do most of my big game hunting on the western slopes of the cascades, so plenty of trees for me to hang out in. I've seen saddles in the past and always thought I could do a lot better on elk...
