    Are you elk ready?

I'm shooting everyday, swimming, biking, lifting weights, etc. Hope to be out there late August, season opens September 2nd. First time it's ever opened that late, so might help for sure. Very dry where I hunt so sitting water will be mixed in with calling everyday for sure. They came to a call...

    Oklahoma scouting

IkemanTx and I went scouting today. Was drizzling rain and cold but we made the best of it. Issac is a beast of a paddler, dont need pedals or motor if he is the boat. Set up 3 spots, saw lots of fresh pig sign and promising deer sign from last season. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

    Lots of needed snow

We are getting much needed snow where I elk hunt in Colorado. Had a bad drought this summer out there, lots of water sources dried up, that never have before. This moisture will help for sure, it will also mean grass and browse for all animals. Antlers should be very nice this year! Sent from...

    Oklahoma yesterday

I met Dave T yesterday at a wma and we went for a walk, it was great to meet a fellow saddlehunter and share some time. We got separated and ended up scouting different areas but we ended up finding areas we both liked and shared some experiences, etc. I hope to share more time in the future...

    Duck day #2

Went to Oklahoma with a buddy, turned into a decent hunt. 2 limits with mallards, widgeons, woodies, teal. I rocked a drake pintail but he kept going [emoji24]. Great hunt despite the 72 degree temp at 10am. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

    Duck day

Took today off from deer hunting to check out the duck numbers in Oklahoma where I hunt. Cold front coming in, cloudy, hard north wind. Would rather have a sunny day but it was first hunt this year. Had decent numbers of birds, not a ton but enough to get a limit with mallards, greenwings and...

    Ground blind question

First, I know this is a saddle site. I hunt elk and bears every year in Colorado, usually calling and hunting over water, etc, out of a tree. I acquired access to some ground that has some ponds and wallow areas with no trees around. We tried popups this year and they worked on deer and bears but...

    Easton FMJ arrows

I had always shot easton axis 340's, this year I bought 340 FMJ arrows to add weight to my arrows along with exodus 125 heads. Being in my silver years I dropped bow weight to 65 from 72. I hunt elk and bears every September in Colorado so I've tried to maintain a higher peak weight. So far I...

All my haulers, adjusters etc came in so hopefully Wednesday will be my first hunt in the mantis. Praying that the rain in Oklahoma stops as predicted.

    Have you noticed this?

I've noticed over the years that if I hunt terrain features and not so much exact feed areas that I can consistently hunt the same tree per se every year. I had areas with consistent buck sign every year so I would set up locations along those areas for different winds etc. Entry and exit is not...

    Flooded out in Oklahoma

Some of my spots are flooded out, went in Wed, hung a new set. Got there yesterday am, river rose almost 3ft overnight. So going to different area tomorrow in canoe to sneak scout and hang. Forecast says river should be down to where I can hunt other area by Monday.

Dont get careless climbing like i did!

Been climbing trees hunting over 40 years. On 8/26/18 in Colorado, I fell from 25ft up a pine and caught myself 10ft off the ground. I was hanging upside down, my right leg miraculously wrapped around a limb and caught me. I suffered pretty good tree trunk rash on both arms trying to catch...
