1st saddle hunt went pretty well

So I went out to some State ground to practice 2tc and get start to get to know this whole saddle thing. Tried a tree that was a little too much for a 1st timer with less than optimal equipment as far as tether climbing goes. Gave up on it and moved to a smaller tree about 40 yds away and went up about 8 or 9 feet off the ground. I've hunted here for years and was honestly hoping to maybe see some turkeys as they roost often in this area. I was mainly spending time in the saddle. I was extremely comfortable and not nervous at all which surprised me as I am prone to feeling somewhat uneasy off the ground. So I see a doe about 50 yds off heading away from me and I thought at least I didn't get skunked. My plan was to get down at sunset so I had plenty of time to get down in daylight. Well a little before 6 I look where the doe was and see a deer moving in the same area. I pull out the binos and this buck raises his head and I was shocked to say the least. He proceeds to walk straight to me and at 15 yds drops his head and gives me a shot at the base of his neck. He ran about 40 yds and piled up. Gonna be hard to top him I think, but I'm gonna keep trying.

Congratulations! See everyone, it was the 2TC thing that did it, so if you'll just get cool and do it, this here, is the results you'll get everytime you 2TC! Dem's the facts.

(Shhh...no i haven't shot one that big yet.....stop asking questions!)

Congratulations! It's going to be tough to top that one. This saddle thing may work out for you. PS Give the 2TC some practice on good trees outside of a hunting situation to get the hang of it. I love it but I practiced a lot in the off season beforehand.
Wanted to this summer, but tore a meniscus in my left knee in April. Pretty boring year. Have some better gear on the way too,.so that will help.

LOL, nice, I mean why not? I wish i had never started saddle hunting years and years ago. That way I could go out on a first sit and kill a giant buck. Thats how it always is these days. "Oh look, my first day in a saddle, its a BOONER" lol.
Had him officially scored Sunday and he ended up 1 inch shy of being a net booner. He grossed 187 5/8 and netted 184.

I have hunted that ground for 35 years and he is far and away the biggest I've seen. Lucky to see a 140 most years.
